Position: :Refugee Services Supervisor
Department:: Refugee Services West Region - South Bend
Reports to:: Director, Resettlement Services
Supervises: :Refugee Health, Refugee Support Services (RSS), Match Grant (MG), Reception & Placement (R&P), Preferred Communities-Intake and Referral for Ukrainians (PC-IRU), PC-Afghan, and South Bend Refugee Services staff.
FLSA Status: :Full Time, Exempt
Pay Range: :$46,000-$52,000
Position Summary: :The Refugee Services Supervisor oversees staff and day to day operations within the Refugee Services Department to Refugee Health, Refugee Support Services (RSS), Reception & Placement (R&P), Match Grant (MG), Preferred Communities-Intake and Referral for Ukrainians (PC-IRU), and PC-Afghan. They act as a liaison between the Resettlement Director and staff, also providing community engagement support for Refugee Services as requested by and in collaboration with the agency’s Mission Advancement department.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: :
  • Complete assignments as directed by Resettlement Services Director to department staff, and follow-up with staff to ensure provision of comprehensive, quality, and professional case work.
  • Provide training to staff, interns, and volunteers as directed by the Resettlement Director to enhance their professional development.
  • Oversee day-to-day finance requests and client acknowledgement of receiving financial assistance.
  • Schedule to meet with staff for supervision as needed.
  • Ensure that the services provided are consistent with the agency’s mission and philosophy and that all direct staff has an awareness of and commitment to that mission and philosophy.
  • Network with area social service agencies, and potential employers to increase cooperation, communication, and collaboration for Resettlement Services.
  • Oversee the case file reviews to ensure all files have been reviewed as current and accurate. Files should be organized and in good order to comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Provide and coordinate direct services to clients, including assessments, case planning, advocacy, referral, transportation, crisis management, education and problem solving as needed.
  • Assist Resettlement Director in completing reports for USCCB, FSSA, ISDH, and other internal and external reports.
  • Perform occasional home visits and field observation with staff to ensure that the clients are living in a safe, sanitary, and comfortable living environment.
  • Coordinate the cultural orientation (initial, midterm, and case closing) for arriving refugees.
  • Manage a case load as necessary and directed by the Resettlement Director.
  • Conduct community engagement and outreach activities and be very comfortable with public speaking.
  • Facilitate and host refugee services community consultation meeting at least quarterly.
    • Ensure necessary arrangements are made for photo shoots, interviews, press conferences, etc.
    • Provide general support to the agency office and Mission Advancement as needed.
    Qualifications::
    • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field required.
    • Knowledgeable about refugee resettlement and services with at least three years case management experience required and supervisor experience is preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of individual, family, and group dynamics.
    • Demonstrated skill and ability to provide effective service to complex families and individuals.
    • Ability to work independently and effectively to provide services with limited supervision.
    • Ability to effectively represent the agency in public situations involving services rendered.
    • Knowledge of public and private social service providers within the community.
    • Strong intercultural communication skills; demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from other cultural backgrounds.
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office 365 and email (Outlook preferred).
    • Excellent written and verbal skills.
    Conditions of Employment::
    • Have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
    • If your position requires you to transport clients, staff members, or volunteers with your personal vehicle as needed, it is required that you have a reliable vehicle with personal vehicle liability insurance coverage per person and per occurrence.
    • If your position does not require you to transport clients, staff members, or volunteers with your personal vehicle, or such transportation is restricted to use of agency vehicles, your personal vehicle liability insurance coverage must be at least per person and per occurrence.
    • Successful completion of federal and state background checks
    • Successful completion of child welfare screening
    • Successful completion of drug and Mantoux (TB) screens
    • Comply with the agency’s mission, code of ethics, Catholic Social Teaching, policies, and procedures, and confidentiality
