SUMMARY: Ensures company accounting procedures conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Assists in daily, monthly, quarterly and year-end general accounting. Ensures that internal and external reporting is completed on a timely basis. Performs activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs activities associated with maintaining ledger accounts and for developing financial statements and reports.
2. Prepares month-end and miscellaneous journal entries. Adheres to the requirements of the department's month-end closing schedules.
3. Prepares and maintains spreadsheets. Prepares and analyzes account reconciliations.
4. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory authorities.
5. Reviews the documentation to ensure accuracy.
6. Addresses and researches all related questions.
7. Reports any discrepancies to the Assistant Financial Controller.
8. Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma. Must have legible handwriting.
2. Must be able to work on own, without constant supervision. Ability to operate adding machine/calculator and computer terminal.
3. Two to five years of accounting experience preferred.
4. Must be 21 years of age and be able to obtain all local, state and federal regulatory permits as required by position.
