Program Coordinator

General Statement of Duties

This position entails responsibility for the direct service mentoring operations of Foundation For C.H.O.I.C.E. All operations will be managed and implemented according to established best practices in the mentoring field. These operations include recruiting, training and screening adult volunteers; matching volunteers one-to-one with at-risk youth; interviewing and screening youth; providing follow-up support once each match is made; planning life skills workshops; planning and implementing a community-based activities program; coordinating the implementation of targeted services and programs (including alumni support services, academic support services, and youth community service opportunities); assisting with special college collaborations; planning special activities for youth on the waiting list; and managing other special programs.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for not only maintaining a high standard of excellence in mentoring and support services to at-risk youth, but also taking initiative to further this goal. The Program Coordinator is responsible for meeting operational goals and objectives, keeping the organization informed of current research and information relevant to the program and working with staff and the Board to maintain an ongoing evaluation protocol. The Program Coordinator will represent Foundation For C.H.O.I.C.E. in the community, in the partner High Schools, and any other related activities.

Dallas, TX 75204

Examples of Duties:

  • Manage and delegate appropriate responsibilities to Mentors and Students;
  • Recruit, supervise, train and evaluate mentor’s and student’s progress and provide ongoing training and support;
  • Recruit mentors on an ongoing basis
  • Represent agency in the community;
  • Communicate with school personnel, families, referral agencies and other organizations on behalf of Foundation For C.H.O.I.C.E.;
  • Ensure that mentors and students meet program operational goals;
  • Ensure that program services are carried out, such as activities, follow-up support to matches and workshops;
  • Keep Foundation For C.H.O.I.C.E. current on all volunteer screening issues and techniques;
  • Work with Board, CEO, Mentor Director and other staff to develop and implement ongoing evaluation procedures;
  • Manage evaluation data collection;
  • Compile weekly data into an operational summary;
  • Provide reports as needed to Mentor Director;
  • Support Foundation For C.H.O.I.C.E. with program data for reports as needed;
  • Assist in other programmatic functions as required, such as special events, to support the program;
  • Take a lead role in exploring community collaborations and developing supplemental support services for youth;
  • Identify, evaluate and propose solutions to program areas that need special attention;
  • Coordinate mentoring services content for Web page, social media, and other media outlets as requested.
  • Attend at least four networking events every month
  • Develop content for a monthly newsletter

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Completed an undergraduate degree; preferably in psychology or education related studies
  • Be willing to undergo a background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completed an undergraduate degree in a Psychology or Education field
  • Have experience working with youth
  • Proficiency in Microsoft word, excel, powerpoint, and other programs
