Overview

Quality Assurance Automation Engineer Description & Duties:

The Quality Assurance Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated tests to ensure the quality and reliability of our software products. They create initial test designs, write test script code, and ensure proper test coverage, using Cypress for automation and Cucumber for Behavior-Driven Development.

Duties may include, but are not limited to: 

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop automated tests for web applications using Cypress and Cucumber BDD.
  • Implement and maintain automated test scripts using Cucumber BDD.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and QA team members to identify and resolve defects.
  • Create and maintain automated test frameworks to support continuous integration and delivery.
  • Execute automated tests and analyze results to ensure the quality and reliability of software products.
  • Work closely with product owners and the development team to understand requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of our application functions, business processes, and testing protocols.
  • Interpret system diagrams and plan for test coverage so that our applications are properly covered by the appropriate type of test.
  • Coordinate with the development team to assess risks, create tests, and plan for testing as projects move toward production deployment.
  • Maintains proper documentation of projects tests and ensures completed projects can be deployed without bugs or adverse effects to the business.
  • Handle the overall quality assurance process.
  • Other duties as assigned by management. Must be able to come to work promptly and regularly. Must be able to take direction and work well with others. Must be able to work under the stress of deadlines. Must be able to concentrate and perform accurately. Must be able to react to change productively.

Applicants must also have great attention to detail and ability to multi-task under the stress of deadlines with a strong desire to help the organization succeed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar relevant field; 2 years of relevant experience as a Quality Assurance Automation Engineer, Software Engineer, or Software Development Engineer in Test is desirable OR combination of education and experience.

  • Any certifications related to automated testing tools or Agile methodologies are a plus.

Development Skills:

  • Functional knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Experience with Cypress and Cucumber is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies and best practices.
  • Knowledge of database concepts for a SQL or NoSQL database.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices.
