Primary Responsibilities:

  • Technical Design: Lead technical engineering project designs, site investigations, and inspections with a focus on stormwater management, watershed planning, sanitary sewer collection, and green infrastructure.
  • Report Development: Develop technical reports for infrastructure improvement projects, including stormwater and sanitary sewer assessments.
  • Hydraulic Analysis: Conduct hydraulic analysis, drainage channel design, erosion and sediment control, and gravity sewer modeling to ensure project success.
  • Design Documentation: Prepare design plans, specifications, permitting, and bid documents for construction projects related to stormwater, drainage, and water quality.
  • Construction Support: Provide design and construction support services, including shop drawings, pay estimates, progress meetings, and on-site construction services.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 2 years of experience in design or construction services for general civil infrastructure, such as: stormwater, sanitary sewer, utilities, pavement, and municipal infrastructure improvements
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • 4 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on stormwater, sanitary sewer, water resources, and site design projects.
  • Prior experience with hydraulic and stormwater modeling software such as HEC-RAS, SewerGEMS, HydroCAD, XPSWMM, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS, etc.
  • Past practice with CADD software such as Bentley MicroStation OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Experience in construction inspection or management on civil engineering projects.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Experience with Illinois DOT specifications and procurement practices.
  • Previous involvement in solid waste services, including landfill, recycling facilities, and transfer station designs.
