Fostering Life-Changing Opportunities is Hiring a Remote Youth Specialist (Part-Time)

The Flourish Home (FLOME) will house at least 6 youth between the ages of 16 and 20 who are experiencing homelessness. Flourish Youth Specialists will facilitate a safe and stable environment for the residents of FLOME by overseeing the day-to-day workings of the house and making sure the short-term and basic needs of youth residents are addressed, all aspects of residents’ wellbeing is supported, and that residents are effectively prepared to transition to independent living and financial stability in the long-term. Youth Specialists will collaborate with program managers, coordinators, and other specialists across departments to coordinate comprehensive wrap-around support to all residents. This position is for someone who is passionate about enhancing lives and who will work to deliver results with integrity to positively impact youth, team members, and our community partners. Compensation may vary based on experience and credentials but will range from $15.00-$17.00 per hour. Flourish part-time staff are also offered a 401K match of up to $1,500. Duties: Build trusting relationships with youth. Serve as an appropriate role model and implement guidelines and discipline as needed to ensure the safety and well-being of all youth in care. Work collaboratively with the Lead Program Coordinator at the FLOME and other staff to ensure residents are active participants in supportive services and are making appropriate strides towards meeting their individual goals. Teach, model, and assist youth in learning and practicing independent living skills such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, resolving conflicts, etc. Assist youth as needed with dressing, homework, hygiene, health needs, medication, and any other basic needs. Ensure residents are ready for school or work when applicable, and receive residents home from school, work, and free time. Plan, shop, and make daily evening meals and meal prep for weekends. (Day) Prepare a meal each evening (Evening). Transport youth to school, work, community events, appointments, and other goal-related activities. Help youth review and comply with all program expectations. Including curfews, room time, cleaning duties, etc. Complete chores on the daily and weekly cleaning list. Perform organizational and basic home maintenance/improvement tasks to ensure the safe and orderly operations of the Flourish Home. Complete required documentation on each resident in a timely fashion maintaining confidentiality. Comply with Flourish Initiative Policies and Procedures. Participate in Flourish Initiative events. Stay up to date on evidence-based best practices and the landscape of community resources and continuously incorporate that knowledge into practice. Other duties as assigned. Essential Attributes: Effective communication and conflict resolution Ability to manage time and prioritize to meet deadlines Thrive in a highly cooperative work setting Organizational and information management skills High attention to detail Exemplary customer service skills and client-centered approach Excel in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment Ability authentically engage and build trust with diverse individuals Bachelor’s Degree or higher in relevant area of study (Social Work, Education, Sociology, Human Development, Public Health, etc.) and/or experience working with youth in public education or other community human service organizations Valid Missouri Driver's license Must be able to pass state and federal background screening Preferred: Experience working with marginalized youth and/or families. Skilled in public speaking and creating presentations and/or trainings. Project management and/or program coordination experience. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and other basic computer technologies.
