Anticipated Duties for Posted PositionJOB TITLE: Principal for Captain Isaac Paine Elementary SchoolGENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Leading, managing, facilitating, coordinating, and supporting the continuous improvement of a personalized, rigorous, relevant, and collaborative learning environment that develops globally competitive students proficient with deep content knowledge and transferable skills needed for success in post-secondary education, careers, and life in a global economy.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the supervision of the Superintendent with wide latitude to exercise independent judgment. Work is subject to periodic review. Job performance will be evaluated annually for adherence to professional standards of conduct and quality.SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Is responsible for the direct supervision of teachers, and education support staff advancing and supporting the learning of students in the school.REPRESENTATIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead, support, and manage all school functions and operations needed to achieve the mission of the district and meet the learning needs of students, including, but not limited to, the following:• Lead and support a cohesive Professional Learning Community focused on preparing students for college and careers;• Lead, support, and manage the implementation the National Center on Education and the Economy’s distillation of 30 years of research on world class schools into foundational building blocks, and the National Research Council’s findings in How Students Learn to create a coherent system of highly aligned instruction, high-quality teaching, and high performance organization and management;• Lead, support, and manage the implementation of high-interest learning pathways which provide a foundation for further study in our middle and high schools;• Lead, support, and manage changes to curriculum, instruction, assessments, and school structures that incorporate national standards, transferable skills, and work habits needed for success in college, careers, and life in a global economy;• Participate in and provide high-quality professional development focused on enhancing the instructional core and instructional leadership;• Lead, support, and manage the implementation of personalized, relevant, rigorous, and collaborative learning experiences and school structures / schedules that enhance student learning;• Ensure the effective operation of data teams that analyze classroom, grade-level, and school wide assessment data to improve future instruction;• Lead, support, and manage the implementation of instructional change, supported by mobile devices (1:1 student access to technology) in a blended learning environment that enhances learning in and out of school;• Create partnerships among parents, educators, businesses, higher education, and communities that support learning in and out of school;• Lead, support, and manage the creation and implementation of a School Improvement Plan that includes acquisition of deep content knowledge and transferable skills, implementation of best practices, and advances instructional change supported by technology;• Ensure the efficient, effective, and collaborative management of all school operations to ensure all learning experiences, student discipline and school safety practices advance the mission of the district;• Develop school budgets, based on input from educators and staff, that purposefully targets fiscal and human resources to provide a high-quality education that prepares each student for success and aligns with the established priorities and mission of the district;• Lead, support, and manage the implementation of a highly aligned instructional framework and leadership practices;• Participates actively and collaboratively on school and district leadership teams and provides input specifically designed to enhance school management, curricula, instructional and assessment;• Ensure school and district goals are well understood, documented and implemented;• Develop and disseminate information to school staff and our communities about the schools’ work on pathways, blended learning, personalization and other school initiatives in a variety of print and electronic formats;• Lead, support, and manage the creation of performance tasks, formative and summative assessments aligned to the Common Core and 21st century skills as well as task validation and calibration;• Lead, support, and manage the evaluation of educators and support staff to continuously improve learning and teaching;• Perform the functions of the position in accordance with the RI Leadership Standards, RI Professional Teaching Standards, RI Professional Code of Conduct, all laws, regulations, and school district policies; and• Perform other duties as may be assigned.The intent of these posted duties is to provide a representative sample of the types of duties that the district is seeking for this position and shall not be construed as a declaration of the total duties of this position.
