Foster Caviness is Hiring a Facilities Technician Near Colfax, NC

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform general maintenance within Foster facilities, to include basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, floor drain cleaning, concrete patching, etc.
  • Perform troubleshooting, installation, repair and maintenance on facility systems.
  • Facilitate larger facility issues with external contractors for things like equipment (motorized and non-motorized), storage/racking and HVAC unit repairs/replacement.
  • Solicit bids/quotes from external contractors for capital expenses, research vendors, make recommendations, and schedule/support the work as needed.
  • Operating walk behind floor scrubber within the facility.
  • Maintain the grounds (exterior) primarily in Greensboro (assist with other sites as needed) from litter control/waste disposal, and ensuring such things as needed weed/control barriers around buildings are in place. Also parking lot signage/spot designation/striping as needed.
  • Oversee and be the liaison for pest control at all facilities and ensure appropriate programs are in place to meet compliance issues.
  • Work with operations around waste removal, dealing with 3rd parties for dumpster/compactor needs, change out and repair as needed.
  • Maintain records as needed for warranty repairs, contract obligations, preventative maintenance, etc.
  • In inclement weather, ensure facility is safe. For example, during winter conditions, shovel ice/snow as needed, utilize ice/snow melting products, etc. Also work with contractors as needed for clearing parking lot(s).
  • Orders needed supplies for facilities.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • Insightful, meaningful, relevant relationship skills
  • 3 years in a related field/role, with experience with specific responsibilities as stated above.
  • Vocational/Technical training/education/certificate/experience to perform duties as noted.
  • Willingness to assist others and learn new processes/procedures/skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate through written and verbal means, with internal and external customers.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office products as well as MS Teams.
  • A hunger to learn and grow and continue education, flexibility to meet the needs of the business (to include evenings/weekends when needed), and ability to travel between sites as needed.
  • Comfort with heights, ability to climb ladders, utilize scissor lifts, and work overhead as needed.
  • Creative new ideas on how we can better serve our people with our facilities, create better business practices.
  • Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds or more and occasionally move/lift 100 pounds.
  • An extreme sense of ownership (meaning you treat every person, every function, everything as if you were the owner of this company.
  • Ability to read and follow manufacturer equipment manuals and read schematics/draft prints/blueprints as needed.
  • Possession of personal tools to be used to perform these duties (generally available tools).
  • Ability to perform welding tasks (Stick/MIG/TIG) is a plus.
