OVERVIEW

The Material Handler will be responsible for assisting the day-to-day warehouse related tasks and functions for Fortress Building Products Garland, TX location.

The material handler will assist in daily operations to ensure proper material handling, picking, and packing. The Material Handler will follow standard work and operating procedures to ensure duties are fulfilled and goals are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Performs handling, storing and recording activities in a warehouse setting.
• Loading or unloading shipments.
• Pulling and picking orders.
• Operating a variety of equipment, which includes forklifts.
• This is a standalone classification in the warehouse function within a plant or distribution center

Education / Experience / Additional Requirements

• 0-3 years experience within a manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred.
• High school graduate or equivalent education and experience.
• Forklift certification will be required. Assistance in obtaining certification can be provided, if necessary.
• Following directions under limited supervision.
• Ability to learn warehousing, shipping, and receiving principles and practices.
• Performing basic mathematical calculations.
• Lifting and loading materials.
• Complying with safety and operational guidelines, policies, and procedures.
• Basic PC skills.
• Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction.
• Able to lift to 50 pounds, operate a pallet jack and fork truck a plus
