Fort Pierce Utilities Authority is Hiring a FPUAnet Network Engineer Near Fort Pierce, FL

Salary assigned will be commensurate with experience.
Performs technical work analyzing, recommending, designing, installing, configuring, operating, maintaining, testing, and repairing FPUAnet's network infrastructure, to include LANs, WANs, and network infrastructure. Responsible for the design and implementation of wired and wireless networks. Work is performed under the general supervision of the FPUAnet Manager, with projects being completed in teamwork with other departments and vendors. This position works closely with FPUA Information Technology Services.
 Must possess:
 
  • knowledge of the installation, maintenance, and operation of computers and networks.
  • knowledge of telephone VoIP.
  • knowledge of computer and operating software and some knowledge of standard word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
  • knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environment to include 2003 and higher operating systems, Exchange, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, AD, SQL, IIS, SMS, Update services, SAN and others.
  • knowledge of security-related hardware and software; LAN/WAN management and systems administration; background in telecom protocols, VPN, VoIP, TCP/IP, intrusion detection and firewall implementation.
  • ability to install, configure and support Cisco networking electronics including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • ability to evaluate competitive computer and network hardware and software systems and present results to management.
  • ability to react to change productively and to handle other tasks as assigned.
  • ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and management.
  • skills in Layer 2 and 3, VLAN and VPN configurations.
Graduation from an accredited high school, with technical schooling in process, or graduation from an accredited four (4) year college with a concentration in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.. Telephone VoIP, multi-platform based servers, networking and Ethernet copper and fiber wiring experience preferred. The following certifications are desired: CompTIA Security , MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, SSCP and/or CISSP.
When considering new job applicants, a comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
 Designs, implements, operates, and maintains FPUAnet's network infrastructures including all LAN, WAN, and wireless technologies.
Responsible for all FPUAnet switches, routers, wireless radios, and other connectivity equipment.
Installs, operates, and maintains firewalls and security appliances, including but not limited to, firewalls, IOS firewalls, intrusion prevention, web filtering, and perimeter testing.
Maintains the cable plant including both copper and fiber based networks; assists with the design of fiber optic and wireless networks for internal and external customers.
Provides network related integration services to include project lead and coordination between customers, vendors, and other FPUAnet support services and includes both wired/wireless data and voice.
Monitors infrastructure to determine usage, efficiency and needed or suggested enhancements.
Continually surveys current sites and, as requested, surveys prospective external customer and internal customer sites to determine future network needs.
Operates and maintains all system UPSs including those in data centers, equipment rooms, and on customer premises
Designs, implements, operates, and maintains any storage technologies.
Maintains FPUAnet's IP addresses, VLAN, and BGP allocations.
Administers NTP, DHCP, and DNS services for FPUAnet customers
Develops and maintains detailed and complete infrastructure documentation; responsible for keeping current backups of all network communications equipment.
Implements and operates network monitoring tools to create visibility to network health; maintains appropriate alerts and alarms; monitors alerts and alarms and takes appropriate actions to resolve issues.
Ensures that all production communications equipment have the latest service packs, fixes applied and are within operating and life limits.
Analyzes, tests, and evaluates systems such as LANs, WANs, and other data communications.
Researches, benchmarks, tests and recommends new network technology to keep FPUAnet current in proven information technologies.
Plans, implements, configures, maintains, and monitors network hardware and software including filtering and security settings to continually find and eliminate security attacks.
Supports fixed network environments by fielding telephone calls, one-to-one settings, or e-mail messages from customers seeking guidance and assistance on complex hardware and software technical issues.
Suggests and provides input on possible wireless designs, its impact, security, and connection issues.
Performs with network infrastructure design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Performs advanced level troubleshooting of the network environment during and after installation including switches/routers, firewalls and network security.
Performs other duties as assigned.
