Fort Mill School District - York 4 is Hiring a Director of Student Services Near Fort Mill, SC

Position Purpose: 

Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Administration, the Director of Student Services is responsible for building capacity and providing support for school communities that are consistent with the District's vision, mission, and strategic goals. The Director will assist with the planning, development, organization, management, and implementation of all aspects of the Student Services programs of the district which include child welfare, transportation,, discipline procedures and law, specific grant funded programs, evaluation of assigned personnel, and perform related work as required. 

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate quality activities related to student services to ensure students' needs are being met
  • Collaborate with the district staff and school administrators to implement research-based student support services which maximize student achievement and enhance professional development
  • Collect, analyze and interpret data and performance measures for dissemination to improve the delivery of student services
  • Assist with the development of policies and procedures and provide technical assistance to ensure implementation and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations that apply to student services
  • Prepare and monitor all required data required for federal and state reporting
  • Recommend, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate professional development activities regarding student services
  • Recommend cooperative agreements and programs with state and local agencies and non-profit groups in order to provide comprehensive services to students
  • Participate in school advisory, business, and community groups and activities, serve on committees and councils, and develop community partnerships which support the District's vision, mission, and goals
  • Respond quickly to emergency situations and serve as a district representative at emergency shelters as determined by the Superintendent
  • Research and recommend grants that will address goals related to District Student Services
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Student Service grants for the District
  • Coordinate and direct the operation of specified grants, as assigned
  • Conduct discipline appeals and schedule expulsion hearings to ensure due process is followed in all cases
  • Plan, conduct, and assist with the implementation of the State’s Safe School Climate Act
  • Serve as a resource for all principals with a focus on middle/high school principals
  • Coordinate and supervise middle school athletic programs
  • Assist high school athletic directors with all procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Coordinate and supervise the district’s alternative school programs
  • Assist in providing supervision over the district’s Middle and High School Counselors
  • Assist with the interpretation of federal, state and district regulations as it relates to attendance, student discipline, and due process
  • Attend workshops to maintain current knowledge of new legislation and student service requirements
  • Act as a resource in areas of substance abuse education, child welfare and attendance issues, and student discipline
  • Actively maintain or improve the external and internal image of the District, its divisions, and its schools
  • Establish annual objectives as deemed appropriate by the supervisor
  • Prepare and submit reports, presentations, and Board agenda items as required
  • Respond to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner
  • Handle parent complaints professionally and effectively

Additional Duties:

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Administration or the Superintendent.

Travel Requirements: 

  • Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current trends and research in the area of assignment
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional techniques, as it applies to the area of assignment
  • Knowledge of related federal, state, and local rules, regulations, statutes, and policies
  • Ability to analyze data and use date-driven decision-making to implement effective programs
  • Ability to read and interpret journals, articles, research studies, South Carolina statutes, State Board rules, and School Board policies
  • Knowledge of assessment systems, as it applies to the area of assignment
  • Ability to plan and manage projects including collaboration, coordination, and facilitation of student and adult work groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally, in writing, and in social media
  • Knowledge of and experience with personal computers and programs, such as Powerschool, word processing programs, spreadsheets, and other databases 

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards: 

Work in standard office and school building environments 

Qualifications Profile: 

Certification/License

  • Current SC certification or license in SC as a principal, assistant principal, or supervisor 

Education:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Educational Leadership or related area 

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years’ successful experience in education as an administrator preferred 

Terms of Employment:

  • 240 Days annually, FMSD A3a Director Salary Schedule $$95,126.79-$152,398.51. Salary commensurate with education and experience based on district placement formula.
  • Performance on this job will be evaluated annually by the supervisor and in accordance with the provisions of the School Board’s policy
