Fort Bend Independent School District is Hiring a Teacher Music Elementary 2024-2025 Near Sugar, TX

DescriptionJob Overview
The Teacher Music Elementary will implement an Elementary Music instructional program during the school day based on the District's written curriculum.The incumbent will provide performance experience both inside and outside of the regular school day for children enrolled at the campus.The incumbent will vigorously participate in District and campus professional learning and fulfill all professional responsibilities as outlined by state law and District policy and procedures. Prolonged or irregular work hours are required.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and maintain progress with group and individual instruction, rehearsals, and performances
  • Plan appropriate learning activities including determination of appropriate type and level of materials and implement an instructional program for elementary students that provides an appropriate learning sequence, considering different learning styles and a range of abilities
  • Assess student achievement as related to desired educational goals and outcomes and maintain appropriate assessment documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes
  • Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
  • Manage the behavior of learners in the instructional setting to ensure the environment is conducive to the learning process; assist and participate in management of student behavior in all parts of the school, center, school grounds, or work site both during and outside of school hours; monitor and enforce compliance with the Fort Bend ISD Student/Parent Handbook and Student Code of Conduct
  • Ensure classroom and/or instructional environment is attractive, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning and that materials are accessible to students and in good condition
Program Management
  • Perform all duties as assigned by campus administration and/or Coordinator of Elementary Music
  • Implement a choral music program for 4th and/or 5th grade students, conducting rehearsals before and/or after school in the fall and spring semesters to provide adequate preparation for concerts, and present at least one evening, public performance on campus each semester
  • Schedule and conduct at least one evening public performance or show on campus each year with the students enrolled in each grade level
  • Continually communicate with students on instructional expectations and keep them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations
  • Ensure continuous communication with parents of students, both written and oral, to keep them informed of student(s) progress and upcoming activities
  • Comply with established FBISD policies and procedures regarding fundraising, budget management, inventory and materials management, student travel, employee travel, and the submission of entry forms and fees by prescribed deadlines
  • Maintain a current inventory of all fine arts equipment and instructional materials in the specified materials management system and coordinate the service and repair of school-owned equipment
  • Provide proper student supervision during and after all activities until all students have left the area
Professional Responsibilities
  • Ensure standards of professional conduct are maintained (Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators)
  • Understand and uphold all rules, regulations, and dates that pertain to the elementary music program (FBISD, TMEA, and UIL policies all apply)
  • Participate in all FBISD-sponsored events, including the FBISD Honor Choir, as well as other required activities, encouraging student participation in all events related to the instructional program
  • Participate in in-service, professional learning activities, and staff meetings as required or assigned, including meetings with the Coordinator of Elementary Music and Director of Fine Arts
  • Support and assist all students by attending campus events, concerts and programs
QualificationsQualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music Education or Music Performance
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment EC-12 Music
  • Kodaly Certification Level I (or Orff Level 1) Required Teachers new to FBISD will have one year to complete this requirement
  • Minimum of 1 year of Full-time teaching experience preferred
  • Effective oral and written communications skills, including the ability to use social media effectively
  • Ability to demonstrate proper vocal technique and to determine pitch and tone quality variations as well as excellent ear training skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of instructional specialty
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child growth and development
  • Proven ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents

Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
