The Forsyth County Department of Social Services (FCDSS) is seeking Child Welfare Interns for the Spring Semester of 2024. FCDSS provides quality learning experiences for Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) students seeking one semester or two semester internships. This year, FCDSS will provide up to three (3) qualified students seeking an internship in the field of Social Work an opportunity to focus on the disciplines of Child Protective Services (CPS), In-Home Services (IHS) and Foster Care/Permanency Planning.
An internship through FCDSS provides students with an overview of child welfare systems while integrating social work theory and knowledge in a structured learning environment. Students learn the written, oral, and technological skills required to implement social work standards in a professional setting. Additionally, applicants have the opportunity to experience child welfare services in one of the following areas:
· Child Protective Services.
· In-Home Services
· Foster Care and/or:
· Adoptions
*This is an unpaid internship opportunity*
Proof of automobile liability insurance;
Proof of professional liability insurance;
A valid driver's license;
A copy of your college transcript and;
Three (3) letters of reference.
These documents must be submitted at the interview. Failure to provide these documents will remove an applicant from the interview/selection process. Each candidate selected for a field placement must submit to a criminal background check, DMV check, and drug screen prior to the start of the assignment.
Qualified applicants must be enrolled in the final year or final semester of a BSW or MSW program in North Carolina and be in good standing academically. Prior to field placement, all applicants must complete Child Welfare in North Carolina: A Pre-Service Curriculum for New Workers and Supervisors.
