Position Title: Option Pathway Teacher/Virtual Learning
Location: Countywide/Itinerate - Home school Bruin Bridge
Qualifications: Certification or license as required by the West Virginia Department of Education
Reports to: Director of Career, Technical and Adult Education, Principal or Assistant Principal of the school, or designee as assigned by the Superintendent
Job Goal: Within the area of his/her professional expertise and certification, the teaching staff member will instruct students in his/her charge in ways that are consistent with the curriculum approved by the Brooke County Board of Education.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Implements his/her assigned program of study
    • Bases instruction on adopted curricula for the school
    • Demonstrates accurate and correct knowledge in subject field
    • Develops appropriate objectives
    • Employs appropriate instructional strategies
    • Utilizes content scope and sequence in planning
  1. Fosters a climate conducive to learning
    • Follows established school discipline procedure which include the WV Code of Conduct
    • Established procedures and rules that enhance learning
    • Encourages student's attendance
    • Sets high positive expectations for student's performance
    • Encourages and acknowledges individual student's accomplishments and appropriate behavior
    • Treats students in a fair and equitable manner
  1. Utilizes instructional management systems which increase student learning and maximize time on task
    • Prepares and implements lesson plans
    • Begins lesson or instructional activity with a review of previous materials as appropriate
    • Has materials, supplies, and equipment ready at the start of the lesson or instructional activity
    • Introduces the instructional activity and specifies instructional objectives
    • Directs students too be on task quickly at the beginning of each instructional activity
    • Presents reading, writing, speaking, and listening strategies using concepts and language which students understand

  • Assigns developmentally appropriate tasks

7) Performs Career and Technical Educational responsibilities to foster a
workforce related curricular program area
  • Instruct students enrolled in the Option Pathway, and prepare them to pass the five (5) GED content areas of Language Arts Writing, Math, science, Social Studies, and Language Arts Reading.
  • Use 21st Century teaching skills in the classroom.
  • Provide individual as well as group instruction in a variety of ways, according to student needs.
  • Administer and grade the TABE test to help identify Option Pathway students.
  • Help prepare students for the ACT Work Keys Test.
  • Be an advocate for the Option Pathway students and program.
  • Work with and communicate with the Career Tech program teachers.
  • Administer and score the Official GED Practice test to Option students.
  • Structure appropriate activities to help develop skills needed to achieve program goals.
  • Maintain accurate student records and submit reports on time.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, counselors, teachers and students.
  • Insure through appropriate supervision, the safety and wellbeing of learners.
  • Attends all trainings required by the West Virginia Department of Education.
8) Maintain and monitor Virtual learning
  • Oversee the online learning program provided to students
  • Weekly progress checks for progress
  • Chair meetings with students/parents/administrators if needed
  • Work with teachers in content areas to provide tutoring to students in need
  • Communicate with teachers, students, and parents
  • Work with administrators to enter/exit students from the virtual program
  • Provide enrichment in content areas if needed to students.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit reports when needed
Employment Term: 200 days
Salary: In accordance with the Brooke County Teacher's Salary Schedule
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Brooke County Board of Education Policy of Evaluation of Professional Personnel

Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits
package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
