Forsyth County is Hiring an Asset Management Tech, Senior Near Cumming, GA

The purpose of this classification is to coordinate activities involving collection, development, and maintenance of Water Department Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data, perform associated mapping functions, and provide technical services/support to the Water departments.Coordinates daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.
 
Operates and maintains CityWorks, the Asset Management System (AMS) within the Water Department including County geographic information system (GIS) base maps, water features, sewer features, Survey water and sewer features, geocode features, and maintains attribute information for said assets for the Water Department AMS.
 
Assists in configuration of the AMS including development of Service Request, Work Order and Inspection templates; developing user-specific queries.
 
Adjusts and performs preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment required for data entry and output production; reports need for maintenance or repair; provides technical assistance to other team members in use of the related asset management system. 
 
Assists in ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies procedures, and deadlines; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
 
Researches and resolves mapping/geographic data collection problems and areas of concern, utilizing aerial photo interpretation, cadastral and street map analysis, field research, and other research techniques.
 
Coordinates and assists with activities to revise, update, create, combine, restructure, or delete water and sewer features within the county GIS system. 
 
Creates and modifies data files by entering electronically converted data into appropriate database system including but not limited to GIS, Asset Management, and Customer Information systems.
 
Creates various maps; participates in composing and plotting maps, using computer-aided drafting; produces cadastral maps, plots, graphic simulation, and manuscript data for use by County departments and local agencies; provides maps and information for appraisers, co-workers, County departments, other governmental agencies, developers, real estate agencies, and the public. Maps may be created in the GIS system, Asset Management system, or a combination thereof.
 
Participates in on-going testing of the asset management system as new updates are released. Assists with development of training exercises and end user training for new functions in each update.
 
Provides information and technical assistance to other County offices, researchers, taxpayers, the public, or other individuals regarding mapping issues, property ownership, property lines, or related issues; provides information, researches problems, and initiates problem resolution.
 
Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, routing slips, maps, plots, plats, surveys, feature/attribute records, or other documents.
 
Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, deeds, surveys, maps, plots, plats, GIS information, utility records, tax records, legal/court records, orthophotographs, aerial photographs, computer guides, journals, laws, regulations, manuals, directories, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
 
Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; verifies accuracy of entered data and makes corrections; utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, database, geographical information system, parcel mapping, research, e-mail, Internet, or other computer programs; provides training, support, and assistance to system users including but not limited to GIS and Asset Management systems.
 
Operates a variety of specialized/general equipment and tools, which may include a computer, plotter, digitizer, GPS equipment, printer, microfiche copier, wide format copier, deed retrieval copier, fax machine, copier, calculator, telephone, or survey equipment.
 
Surveys new and existing assets using the Leica system. 
 
Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, property owners, realtors, attorneys, surveyors, title searchers, builders, contractors, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
 
Attends various meetings and serves on committees as needed.
 
Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws/regulations; maintains an awareness of new technologies, equipment, trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
 
This classification is designated as a safety sensitive position which is subject to random drug and alcohol testing and any other drug testing methods as stated in policies adopted by Forsyth County concerning drug and alcohol.
 
Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include copying maps and other documents, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, or processing incoming/outgoing mail.
 
Provides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.
 
Performs other related duties as required.Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with training emphasis in cartography, computerized mapping, drafting, or a related field; supplemented by two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes ArcGIS, geographical information system operations, cartography, computerized mapping, and basic supervision; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license.
