HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintains good public relations with students, parents, community, and media. Serves as a positive role model. Assists student-athletes with the college recruitment and admissions process. Provides guidance to develop students intellectually, emotionally, socially, and culturally, in order to prepare them for college. Builds and sustains a widely supported and respected program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions that promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to and keep abreast of rules and regulations set forth by the Arkansas Activities Association.
• Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Monitor and enforce student academic eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
• Work with the athletic director in scheduling competitions and coordinating arrangements.
• Cooperate with other members of the school staff in planning and implementing instructional goals and objectives for the overall educational development of student athletes.
• Assist in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.
• Assume responsibility for compiling, maintaining, and filing all reports, records, and other documents required.
• Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and the local board.
• Monitor and support feeder school programs through working closely with principal and coaching staff.
• Assist principals and athletic directors in the recruitment and interviewing of prospective coaches.
• Other duties as assigned by the Principal, Athletic Director or Superintendent.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum of 4 years coaching experience
• Extensive football experience
• Knowledge of and adherence to the Arkansas Activities Association guidelines
• Demonstrated experience as an effective motivator
