Field Investigator
Job description
Forensic Building Science, a inspection firm specializing in analyzing causes of building failures, is looking for a well-organized and hard-working individual to inspect all types of structures affected by defective construction, natural disasters, fire, water loses and other failures. Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time to out of state job sites. Work from home when you are not traveling.
Experience:
· Knowledge of Building Codes and industry standards.
· Ability to perform inspections, including working from ladders, lifts, scaffolds, swing stages, and sloped rooftops.
· Ability to review technical documents and write reports.
· Review and analyze repair cost estimates created by team members - familiarity with Xactimate is a plus.
· Excellent interpersonal and written communication.
· Work independently in remote environments (field and home office).
· Working collaboratively with employees and partners.
· Ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships.
A Combination of the Following Experience is Required:
· 4 year degree
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in the following fields: Public/Independent Adjusting, Construction Management /Services (professional capacity), Building Code Official, Inspecting (construction or facilities related), or Municipality/Public Works.
· Registered Roofing Consultant and or Registered Roof Observer and /or Similar IIBEC Classes and certificates,
· *Litigation support experience is a plus including Deposition, mediation or trial experience.
Required:
· Professional demeanor
Ability to work in safely and efficiently, on, under and around buildings of all varieties, sizes and heights.
· Able to lift 45 lbs
· Articulate and professional communication skills
· Good Driving Record.
· Clear background check.
· 2 professional references.
· Ability to work in outdoor environments.
· Familiar with safety and technical equipment
· Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
· Very comfortable learning new software and troubleshooting basic IT issues on a laptop, phone or tablet.
