Compensation: $60,000 - $68,000 per year
Position Travel Percentage: 25%
Driving Percentage: 25%
Reports to: Nevada Communications Director

Position Classification
For Our Future recognizes a staff bargaining unit, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 2304, a labor union. This position is NOT included in the For Our Future bargaining unit.
Job Summary The Media Relations Manager (Bilingual-Spanish) is key to Nevada's communications strategy and. collaborates with the State Communications Director. They will support media relations, external relations, internal communications, and campaign communications strategies by increasing outreach to traditional media outlets, especially those that serve Spanish-language audiences. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in generating earned media, be a talented writer, and have worked in a campaign or organizing environment.
This position runs through at least December 12, 2024.
Essential Functions
    • Write and distribute media materials such as press releases, advisories, and newsletters.
    • Ensure all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization.
    • Pitch stories to media outlets and assist with scheduling interviews.
    • Build and manage press lists and media databases.
    • Coordinate with state and national partners to execute earned media strategies.
    • Assist with editing public-facing materials, including digital communications, event scripts, literature, and collateral materials as required.
    • Support the onsite execution of earned media events and community engagement activities.
    • Participate in key coalition meetings.
    • Support digital communications as needed.
Skills and Qualifications
    • 2-4 years of communications experience, including at least 1 campaign cycle or 1 year of nonprofit advocacy experience.
    • Fluent in Spanish, verbal and written communication.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong writing and copy-editing skills, and understanding of AP style.
    • Takes initiative, is solution-oriented, and is comfortable wading into details and the big picture.
    • Demonstrated experience working on projects in a fast-paced environment, juggling several priorities that may change quickly, and meeting tight deadlines.
    • A solutions-oriented approach and a willingness to take initiative and think critically.
    • Ability to work both independently and as a team member in a busy office with personal enthusiasm, optimism, and a sense of humor.
The compensation for this position may be based on experience and comes with a comprehensive benefits package.

Expected Hours of Work
    • This position is a full-time hybrid position with at least two days of in-office work required.
    • Employees are required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle or other key deadlines, and generally not allowed to take off during blackout periods. Emergencies are not affected by this policy.
$60,000 - $68,000 a year
Work Environment
Employees will be required to work and interact, in an office environment or otherwise, with coworkers, volunteers, voters, or community partners on a regular basis. If state and government stay-at-home orders, phased reopening orders, or other factors related to the COVID-19 virus (or any other reason) limit For Our Future's ability to engage safely in in-person work, employees may be assigned other duties to be conducted from their homes.
