Meat Market Cutter/Butcher Part-Time

Location: Tallahassee, FL, 32301

Fresh for Less is seeking a part-time Meat Market Cutter/Butcher who enjoys serving customers and providing excellent, courteous, and prompt customer service. The ideal candidate will have experience in meat cutting and be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Job Summary:

The Meat Market Cutter/Butcher will be responsible for cutting, trimming, and preparing meat products for sale in a retail environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in meat cutting and be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Duties Include:

Provide continuous attention to customer needs; greet, assist, and thank customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner.
Offer product suggestions when appropriate.
Cut, trim, and prepare meat products for sale using manual cutting tools as well as mechanical equipment.
Ensure all products are properly labeled and priced.
Stock and rotate department products to ensure freshness and date control; restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and to maintain the lowest supply cost.
Operate department equipment and tools in a safe and appropriate manner.
Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notify store management.
Notify management of team member theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized mark-downs, property defacement or any action that is illegal and/or against company policy.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including cleaning equipment and utensils.
Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
Understand the company’s checkout/purchasing procedures to include how customers and staff pay for items in the store.
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines to include maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned to include stocking, cleaning, etc.
Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical Demands:

Standing for extended periods of time
Bending, stooping lifting, and reaching
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Work Environment:

Exposure to cold temperatures; refrigerated rooms and walk in freezers; sharp objects and tools in work area, noisy work environment; PPE required in some areas.

What Will Make You a Great Candidate:

18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
Ability to understand and follow instructions
Previous experience cutting and preparing meat products
Customer service experience
Ability to handle stressful situations
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication skills
Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a meat cutter
Excellent knife skills and knowledge of different cuts of meat
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends.

Pay Range: $16/hour to $20/hour
