POSITION OVERVIEW

The Linen Manager will assist in overseeing the Linen Program of the Housekeeping Department. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a high level of cleanliness and service standards within the organization. The manager will oversee the linen distribution process, inventory, and assist in developing a linen program that’s effective for the housekeeping department. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Oversee the delivery of daily linen inventories to all areas in housekeeping requiring linen
  • Monitor daily linen deliveries for Housekeeping including injection of clean linen and credit for reject linen
  • Support collaboration between housekeeping leadership, the hotel, and the laundry vendor
  • Occasionally conduct laundry plant visits to ensure integrity and contract compliance 
  • Conduct quality checks of hotel’s assets and address concerns with laundry vendors 
  • Responsible for all aspects of the area assignments including all documentation, and completion of daily worksheets
  • Ensure that guidelines for rejecting linen and terry is consistent with the department program
  • Ensure supplies are being used responsibly, not wasting products by participating in sustainability and recycling programs
  • Provide excellent service consistent with the property's core service standards and brand attributes
  • Meet the demands of a fast-paced environment by using good judgment and the ability to multi-task
  • Work in conjunction with the Director and Assistant Director to promote a culture of continuous improvement by researching and evaluating potential changes to training, equipment, and standard operating procedures on a regular basis
  • Evaluate performance of direct reports as it relates to coaching and development as well as labor and productivity standards
  • Address disciplinary and performance issues in an objective and professional manner, partnering with our People team (Human Resources) as appropriate
  • Effectively communicate flow of information and directives throughout the department and property
  • Provide exceptional service to guests and Members that differentiates us from the competition
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the property and hotel services, and creates positive guest and Member interactions through prompt, accurate, and professional communication
  • Temporary or permanent duties and responsibilities may be added to or modified as deemed necessary

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive Housekeeping management experience in a large, luxury resort
  • Experience with opening 3,000 plus room property is preferred but now required
  • Knowledge and deep understanding of aspects of hotel operations and housekeeping division function
  • Union experience is required
  • Able to multitask and handle stressful situations in a calm professional manner and exhibit good judgment
  • Experience managing schedules, labor standards, and service recoveries are required
  • Knowledge of Forbes Travel Guide training is preferred
  • Bilingual English and Spanish language proficiency is a plus
  • Ability to present oneself in a confident, polished, and professional manner
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, HotSOS, Rex, Linen Master and other software used for Housekeeping
  • Knowledge of pertinent labor laws and regulations related to OSHA is preferred
  • Highly motivated and energetic personality with a strong commitment to excellence in hospitality
  • Ability to effectively achieve business unit goals and objectives by implementing strategic and operational plans, budgets, and best practices; and monitoring and evaluating results
  • Ability to actively influence and drive collaboration with individuals or groups at various levels within and outside of the organization
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction contributing to the success of the organization through engaging, developing, and mentoring individuals and teams
  • Demonstrated ability in maintaining consistent, high-quality service levels
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to organize effectively, delegate responsibility, solve problems quickly, and communicate clearly
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Able to lead and mentor a team
  • Excellent organizational skills; be able to function under time constraints and deadlines with attention to detail
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends
  • Work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises Linen Attendants.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Member must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
