About the Position:

Summary

The Development Associate will work collaboratively with the Executive Director and Director of Development to raise public awareness of the organization through internal/external communications, including the website and social media as well as assist with donor acknowledgement and management systems.

Essential Job Responsibilities 

• Work side by side with the Development Director to manage all donor relations and special events.
• Work collaboratively with all program departments to ensure their messaging reaches the appropriate audiences
• Design and distribute promotional materials / item, including, but no limited to: fliers, signs, ads, forms/surveys, media kits, giveaways, and weekly email communications; maintain and update contact information as appropriate
• Manage the regular updating, maintenance and curation of Focus on Renewal’s website and social media accounts, including managing Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram content in a timely manner to communicate FOR’s various program, evens and opportunities to donate; delegate and/or coordinate as necessary per program and service; respond to and/or forward message requests from the general public as necessary; give bi-weekly report on social media engagement
• Develop and maintain relationships with local media and community partners in order to promote Focus on Renewal’s services and events; update and/or provide information on associated community calendars; compose and distribute press releases
• Regularly coordinate with directors and program managers for a timely and strategic communications plan of events, services, and fundraising appeals/campaigns; ensure completion of each communication plan
• Serve as point of contact and/or photographer / videographer on site for Focus on Renewal events as requested
• Work with and fulfill requests from the Director of Development for submissions and incoming funds management, as well as in aligning public relations and donor relations strategies and communications
• Adjust and communicate schedule in timely manner as needed for events
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications or a related filed
• Communications expertise; prior communications and donor relations, preferably in a nonprofit organization
• Excellent computer skills
• Good project management skills; ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently while demonstrating good teaming skills
• Ability to obtain Act 33 and 34 clearances

Preferred Qualifications

• Resident of the Sto-Rox community
• Prior use of Photoshop, Canva, Mailchimp, and Donor related software packages
