FMI Corporation is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Raleigh, NC

Overview

FMI is a leading consulting and investment banking firm dedicated to serving companies working within the built environment. FMI’s Accounting Department is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its growing team and support the company's continued growth and success. The Staff Accountant will possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills and will maintain general ledger accounts, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, revenue allocations, and be responsible for various compliance requirements. Additionally, they will assist management with audits and accounting system implementation. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and must be able to apply technical accounting knowledge in day-to-day responsibilities.

This hybrid, full-time position reports to the Accounting Manager and is based out of our corporate headquarters in downtown Raleigh, NC.

All applicants for employment must be legally authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis. Visa sponsorship not available at this time.

Responsibilities

  • Reconciling monthly bank statements for multiple entities
  • Auditing expense reports for accuracy, duplicates, and company policy adherence
  • Maintaining fixed asset ledgers and performing monthly reconciliations
  • Allocating revenue and expenses for experiential learning programs
  • Executing month-end closing procedures including the preparation and recording of journal entries, depreciation expense, prepaid amortizations, accruals, etc.
  • Performing account analysis
  • Preparing and filing various governmental forms including monthly sales and use tax, local property tax filings, annual reports in various states, 1099-Misc, etc.
  • Processing inter company billings, transfer pricing, and multi-currency translation as well as prepare GST and returns for the Canadian entity.
  • Completing ad hoc reporting and projects as assigned
  • Assisting with system implementations
  • Support team members for role sharing and backup
  • Responding to internal requests to the accounting department inbox
  • Ensuring compliance documentation for investment banking entity is complete and accurate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university is required
  • 4 years of professional accounting experience
  • Regulatory/compliance experience is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment, prioritizing and coordinating multiple work requirements to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) is required
