Electrical Engineer Location: Maxwell AFB, AL.Salary range: $125k-$135k/Yr.OverviewProvides efficient, effective and timely electrical engineering expertise to design and program management of Maxwell/Gunter AFB facility projects as part of Civil Engineering Services Branch's staff. Provides advisory services for Cathodic Protection Programs and Energy Management support. Interfaces with customer-civil engineering/contracting management personnel as required resolving Maxwell/Gunter AFB engineering services and customer support issues. Accomplishes other administrative tasks as required to ensure effective contractor engineering services and customer support to Maxwell/Gunter AFB. Must have and maintain a valid state driver license.Description * Complies with guidance provided in Air Force Instruction 32-1023, Design andConstruction Standards and Execution of Facility Construction Projects, in addition tospecific contractual guidance, in the accomplishment of design services. Preparesfacility project designs to account for all known conditions and constraints, to allow formaximum flexibility, and to ensure adherence to all building codes, regulatory laws andsafety standards as contractually defined. - 10%* Maintains responsibility for electrical requirements of all projects except MilitaryConstruction (MILCON) and projects designed by other agencies in accordance withbase support agreements. Provides functional and technical design reviews,coordination and support for MILCON and projects designed and executed by other.Reviews out-sourced or sub-contracted design and engineering requirements foraccuracy and completeness. - 10%* Identifies and validates project design requirements with all project team members andapplicable external organizations (safety, security, etc.) and the end user to furtherrefine and coordinate project requirements and criteria identified during projectprogramming. Coordinates completed design process with the end user. - 10%* Completes design analysis in conjunction with fellow engineers on staff, for allelements of facility projects including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, civil,structural, lighting, communication, architectural, and environmental issues. Providescomprehensive conceptual design, schematic design and design developmentaddressing all known aspects of the work affecting functional requirements, materialperformance and system selections. - 10%* Prepares and maintains project design documentation that accurately tracks designsequence and rationale of design decisions, parametric cost estimates for variousdesign phases, decisions on building materials and other pertinent project information.Provides statement of work and cost estimates for work to be performed by theprivatized electrical distribution contractor. - 10%* Provides necessary construction documents (drawing, specification, cost estimatesand other required documents) using automated tools such as Computer Aided Designand Drafting (CADD), word processing, spreadsheet and other applicable automatedsystems. - 10%* Works closely with USAF contracting personnel to ensure requirements supportingUSAF-contracting procured construction and renovation projects are expressedaccurately and comprehensively in design documents and that work is accomplished toa high-level quality. Participates in meetings as required by Engineering Branchleadership to review project design and construction issues with USAF-Contracting,contracted Construction management and construction contractors as applicable andfacilitates solution. - 10%* Participates in meetings and development of facilities project priorities within the AssetManagement Plan (AMP). - 10%* Works closely with and provides electrical engineering expertise if required to CivilEngineering Operations' Maintenance Engineering and Planning Section in the reviewof contractual energy/utility management requirements. - 5%* Ensures accurate and timely updates of master facility drawings and infrastructuremaps. Obtains and provides on-going updates of as-built drawings and real propertyrecords of base real property facilities and infrastructure. Maintains and provides - 5%centralized storage of as-built drawings, construction drawings and specifications forMaxwell/Gunter AFB projects as well as a search and inventory catalog file for allCADD and Geographic Information System GIS) files.* Performs other duties and assigned in accordance with contractual, functional andmission requirements. - 10%Material & Equipment Directly Used* Standard office equipment (computer, Microsoft Office software products, printer, copier, fax, and telephone).* May require use of field equipment for testing construction work.* May require driving to various locations on Maxwell AFB or Gunter Annex to review construction or investigate for design.Education/Experience Requirements* BS Electrical/Engineering Degree* Eight (8 ) years' Electrical Engineering experience* Professionally Registered Engineer (PE) and Capable of obtaining Alabama PE RegistrationSkills:* Familiarity with USAF civil engineering processes/procedures is highly desirable.* Ability to work independently.#LI-RC1
