Fluid Quip Technologies is Hiring a Project Estimator Near Rapids, IA

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Estimate costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements for complex projects
  • Present detailed cost estimates to project stakeholders
  • Develop KPIs (key performance indicators) and prepare cost reports based on KPIs to estimate future projects
  • Development and maintenance of a cost database for reference on future projects
  • Evaluation of current, and/or potential, estimating methods and software for best practice recommendations
  • Assist in bid development, preparation of estimates, and development of bid tabulations for selection of vendors and subcontractors
  • Efficiently perform all stages of an estimate including: estimate organization, take-off, pricing, review, and closeout
  • Work with the entire project, sales, procurement and engineering team to prepare proposals
  • Maintain clear written and electronic records per company policies and procedures
  • Evaluate contractor, subcontractor, vendor, and material bids and judge risks relative to weather, market fluctuations and the labor force
  • Create documents to reflect and record data and conclusions
  • Work with procurement, project management, and process engineering to obtain information and track costs
  • Assist project teams with controlling costs by reviewing the budgets vs actual costs of projects
  • Track commodity material pricing changes along with macro and microeconomic impacts to material component pricing
  • Track field and shop trades labor costs and trends relative to the markets FQT operates within
  • Confer with project management, engineers, designers, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to estimates and budgets
  • Conduct periodic site visits to review scope, existing conditions, evaluate estimate accuracy against actuals, and monitor construction progress

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience working as an estimator in an industrial / commercial construction capacity
  • Bachelor’s degree in a physical, building or construction science, mathematics, or accounting discipline preferred
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and requirements
  • Knowledge of industrial project management
  • Knowledge of construction and engineering best practices, general building codes, and construction types
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to execute a professional presentation
  • Ability to create accurate reports on costing data
  • Strong analytical/math skills, problem-solving abilities, and Microsoft excel
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Very detail oriented and highly organized
  • Knowledge of construction estimation techniques and software

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Performing typical office duties
  • Travel up to 10%
