Accounting Specialist

This is an IN office position * NOT *remote.

Position Summary:The Accounting Specialist will perform various accounting and bookkeeping tasks as required to support the daily activities of the Accounting Department. Accounts Payable will be the primary responsibility of the Accounting Specialist.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a complete understanding of Accrual Based Accounting, the General Ledger, and Balance Sheet Reconciliations. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Investigates and resolves problems associated with processing of invoices. Codes invoices, vouchers, expense reports, check requests, etc., to ensure proper entry into the financial system.
  • Prepare accrual basis journal entries in accordance with GAAP. Assist with month end close of the general ledger.
  • Processes weekly accounts payable cycle, including check production, wire transfers, and ACH transactions. Responsible for all Accounts Payable for functions for all Flowers Title Companies. Processes monthly credit card statements, and accurately posts to general ledger.
  • Completes monthly bank reconciliations of assigned bank accounts. Prepares monthly balance sheet reconciliations for the company’s accounts to ensure accurate presentation within financial statements.
  • Assists with monthly analysis of all expenses reported in the financial statements. Assists with monthly status reports, month end close, audits, and various projects as requested.
  • Files, maintains, and distributes accounting documents, records and reports. Protects company’s values by keeping information confidential. Performs other duties as required to support Finance Department, senior/executive level managers and program managers.

Education/Experience:

Minimum of high school diploma. Preferred minimum 2 years of post high school Accounting classes, or Associate Degree. Must have minimum of 3 years accounting experience, working in a time sensitive Accounting Department. Must have working knowledge of Accounts Payable And Accrual Based Accounting.

Language Ability:

Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees.

Computer Skills:

Proficient in QuickBooks Pro or Online Advanced, Microsoft Office Suite, and Excel.
