THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to head our Live Streaming Team, dedicated to building and maintaining FloSports' streaming platform, which delivers more than 30,000 live sporting events per year. This team's responsibilities include our end-to-end pipeline from the 1st mile to cloud-based transcoding and stream management, on-screen graphics and ad insertion, through distribution to the video player. The role calls for someone to lead a skilled team of streaming & platform engineers optimizing the quality, reliability and efficiency of FloSports' live event operations and pipeline. You will work closely with the Product Manager over streaming and will collaborate with other stakeholders within Engineering, Production & Streaming Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead a team of engineers specializing in media encoding pipelines, live event APIs, streaming media workflows
• Create a culture of executional excellence and innovation within your team
• Oversee implementation of infrastructure, tools, and applications that monitor & manage critical operational workflows in the live video space in real-time
• Ensure comprehensive automation and quality control checks are built to alert operators of ongoing issues with existing live streams

• Contribute to technical discussions, ensuring best practices are followed and the most effective solutions are deployed

• Facilitate alignment between your Live Streaming team and other departments (e.g. Production & Streaming Ops) to ensure clarity, coordination across shared objectives

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong leadership & communication skills
• 4 years of hands-on professional experience with back-end systems development
• 4 years of experience in live streaming workflows
• Strong grasp of digital video fundamentals, compression technologies, distribution formats, and associated technologies
• Experience with video transport protocols such as RTP, RTMP, SRT, UDP, Zixi, HLS, MPEG-DASH
• A clear point of view on backend system & video streaming architecture
• Experience building & leading live streaming production systems
