Florence County Government is Hiring a Legal Records Clerk II - Family Court Near SC, SC

Under occasional supervision, must be mentally and physically capable of performing various complex clerical duties necessary for the effective operation of Family Court on a daily basis. Prepares, processes and maintains court orders, legal record and documents; and performs routine clerical and administrative duties. Reports to the Deputy Clerk of Court II for Family Court.

Processes, certifies records and mails/distributes all Court orders signed by Family Court Judges.

Assists with court processes, performing such duties as appointing mediators and appointing attorneys for specific cases. Notifies petitioners and DSS of hearings. Prepares pro se petitions. Processes, maintains, files and distributes as appropriate all related legal records and documents. Maintains case files with accuracy, completeness and confidentiality.

Interprets Family Court procedures and provides assistance and information to attorneys, clients and the public as required.

Performs computer data entry to record and retrieve case information, maintain records and to prepare reports and correspondence.

Performs various clerical duties as necessary, including but not limited to composing and typing letters and other office communications, notarizing and certifying documents, indexing, copying, filing, faxing information, answering the telephone and routing calls, assisting the public, processing mail, etc.

Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various documents, including case files, court orders,

Schedules, petitions, complaints, pleadings, affidavits, warrants, notices, rosters, weekly reports, memos, correspondence, etc.

Operates various office equipment and machinery in the performance of daily activities including a computer, calculator, copier, printer, telephone, check endorser, mail opener, check signer, etc.

Interacts, communicates and provides assistance to various individuals and groups including immediate supervisor, Clerk of Court, co-workers, clients, petitioners, respondents, Department of Social Services personnel, attorneys, paralegal, judges, other County employees, law enforcement agencies, businesses, and the general public.

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Requires a high school diploma supplemented by one to two years of clerical/legal experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and experience.
