General Description
Flexsys is seeking to hire a Senior Accountant. Candidates should possess extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Senior Accountant supports the Controller to facilitate the monthly/quarterly/annual close; review of monthly journal entries prepared by Staff; records quarter-end and year-end closing journal entries; research monthly variances of IS and BS accounts and explain variances between actual and forecasted balances; prepare ad-hoc analysis around account balance differences along with proposed solution to resolve; oversees expense side of the income statement encompassing accruals, pre-paid amortizations along with account reconciliations for the BS accounts; and ensures accuracy and compliance of financial statement schedules in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.
Position Responsibilities:
· Preform accounting functions required to maintain the general ledger in compliance with GAAP and company policy and procedures.
· Review, analyze and prepare monthly journal entries for month end close related to general corporate accounting processes
· Support continuous review of business processes to increase efficiencies and shorten the closing cycle
· Analyze balance sheet account variances and provide explanations for variances between actual and forecasted balances for income statement accounts
· Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts
· Assist in identifying potential process improvements, documenting new policies and procedures, and contributing to sound internal control development
· Works with the external auditors and prepare year-end financial reporting schedules in conjunction with the annual financial statement audit
· Complete month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely reporting
· Assist with financial audits and bank compliance
· Partner with other accounting functions, including AR, AP, Plant controllership, Treasury and Tax.
· All other duties as assigned
Requirements
Position Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in accounting
· Public accounting experience; Big 4 preferred
· Five to seven (5-7) years professional accounting experience; (public and industry preferred)
· Ability to work within tight timeframes and fluid environment
· Ability to streamline and improve accounting processes
· Independent self-starter
· Understanding of U.S. GAAP
· Highly analytical and detail oriented with an aptitude for problem-solving
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
· Ability to effectively collaborate with other functional areas to achieve overall organizational objectives
· Advanced competency in SAP, preferred
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Detail oriented, good judgment and logical decision-making ability with a hands-on approach to assigned task
