Description

Position Summary:

Lab compounding technician responsible for experiments in rubber compounding and processing. Which require a good understanding of rubber materials, rubber compounding and processing methods related to applications. Also supporting other laboratory work for the Flexsys business.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintains and advances safe laboratory environment. Follow safety documents and ensures safety operation.
• Conduct rubber compounding and other technical experiments:

1. Operate all essential rubber processing equipment, mainly include mixer, extruder, open mill, compression molding press, specimen cutting press…
2. Hands-on rubber compound mixing, calendaring, curing, cutting and sample preparation work according to standard operation process. 
3. Plans and conducts experimental work to safely meet objectives and timeline.
4. Management of experimental raw materials, such as NR/SBR/BR, carbon black, silica, antioxidant, accelerant, etc.

• Equipment management work
• Conduct preventive maintenance of responsible equipment.
• Trouble-shoot problems related to rubber mixing and processing equipment. Find root cause and propose actionable improvement. May work with external vendors.
• Equipment annual maintenance and calibration work. May work with external vendors.
• Generate test reports, including test results, preliminary analysis and conclusion.

Requirements

• High school degree or college degree in chemical or related field. 
• Understanding of rubber compounding, laboratory equipment, testing methods and safety practices.
• Strong hand-on skill.
• Ability to observe, analyze and solve problems during routine job.
• Ability to draw conclusions from experimental work and propose method to improve. 
• Basic English reading and written skill is a plus.
