We are looking to hire an R&D Assistant in the City of Industry, CA.

Department: Research & Development

Direct Report: Manager R&D

Position: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The R&D Assistant is responsible for preparing samples, raw materials inventory/organization, physical and electronic recordkeeping, and supporting the Research & Development department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• You will have the opportunity to put your best ideas forward to actively drive growth of company and private label brands.
• The R&D Assistant serves as an integral part of the product development and marketing team.
• Will actively participate in all activities relevant to research and product development.
• Including but not limited to: development meetings, ideation, ingredient sourcing, formulation, bench top testing, pilot and plant trials, shelf life testing, artwork and labeling, packaging concepts, & interacting with internal cross-functional teams, customers, suppliers and tradeshows.
• The candidate will be mentored by R&D Manager, who will coach incumbent on product development; project management; building rapport and collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams to meet company goals.
• Support product improvement and troubleshooting.
• Participate in testing and tastings of products.
• Record keeping for all changes in formulas or products.
• May cook and prepare bench top or pilot prototypes.
• Create nutritional analysis for new and existing product.
• Coordinate and prepare sample requests for shipment.
• Assist in new item set up and approval.
• Support in Raw material and Finished product documents management.
• Support in Regulatory, packaging development and approval.
• Assist in packing and shipping materials for outgoing sample requests.
• Maintain a clean working area and assist with sanitation and maintenance of R&D laboratory and storage areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Strength demands: Includes exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
• Frequent standing and walking; and the ability to bend, stoop, push/pull, reach and crouch.

• Subject to work in noise level areas
• Ability to work in cold environment
• Adherence to all Company personnel and safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to work in accordance with safety and food safety policies.
• Intermediate ability in Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Excel
• Interpersonal and team skills for working with employees at all levels both internal and external
• Capable of multi-tasking and being involved with many projects at the same time
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• All other duties and responsibilities determined by individual department and/or reasonably assigned from time to time.
• Flexibility to travel, potentially several times a year (tradeshows, customer visits)
• A sense of urgency and ability to work in teams or independently as needed.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

• Education: High School or Equivalent Diploma Required, College Degree preferred.
• Experience: Foodservice experience preferred, not required.
• Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills (i.e. oral and written).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
