Responsibilities

  • This position shall also act as a liaison between the Legal Department and the Franchise Sales and Franchise Development. This position will assist in the tracking of contractual and development obligations.
  • Review all files relative to any contract execution for all franchise systems to ensure compliance with company and legal requirements (Federal Trade Commission and state franchise requirements).
  • Preparation of franchise contracts relative to the sale of any brand franchises.
  • Responsible for resales, transfers, assignments, and changes of ownership (anything that affects a change in the governing Franchise Agreement including addenda) including assisting to draft legal franchise documents and in-depth review of Franchisee’s existing legal documents/legal files.
  • Identify, summarize, and document material terms and key dates of executed agreements.
  • Track contractual obligations and follow up to ensure timely performance and adherence to terms.
  • Administer processes to: (i) ensure consistent use of best practice terms and conditions; (ii) ensure proposed changes receive appropriate review and approval; (iii) encourage use of standard legal forms; (iv) standardize approval, execution, and archiving processes; and (v) track and report all key deadlines.
  • Tailor template agreements for use in specific transactions.
  • Create reports outlining key performance indicators relating to franchise development.
  • Professionally interact with all departments, brands, and outside legal advisors.
  • Review and order products.
  • Provide logistical support to the franchise development team.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned.

  • Familiarity with contract documents and terms–including the ability to identify and summarize material terms.
  • Thorough understanding of the life cycle of contracts from development, evaluation, negotiation, to approval, tracking, close-out and day-to-day management.
  • Franchise experience preferred.
  • Experience in preparing legal document drafts for review.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and time management skills.
  • Preference for candidates familiar with technology integrations.
  • Preference for candidates with IP/Trademark experience.
