GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

The Academic Support Coach (ASC) allows higher education opportunities for an individual with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. Duties include collaborating with faculty at both Fitchburg State University and Fitchburg High School. The purpose of the position is to assist with the inclusion of the student in college coursework and campus life.

The Academic Support Coach supports the student on campus. As an Academic Support Coach, you will work closely with the student. The MAICEI Program Coordinator will assist as needed. You will listen to the students' needs and help guide and support them with:

• Learning in the classroom
• Getting around campus
• Encouraging independence
• Advocating for campus inclusion
• Helping to maintain a positive academic environment
• Assisting student with assignments in a course as assigned
• Communicating about student progress to support staff
• Helping the student with time management

• Ability and interest to work with a student with disabilities Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI check), a SORI and a background check satisfactory to the university
• Ability to perform above duties with or without reasonable accommodations

This is a part-time non-benefited position not to exceed 8 hours/week for 18 weeks. The pay rate is $25 per hour. Hours are: Monday & Wednesday from 9:00-12:00 and Tuesday from 1:00-2:00 (or Thursday from 1:00-2:00). Training provided.
