FISBA North America is Hiring a Managerial Accountant Near Portland, ME

We are seeking a Managerial Accountant to serve as an essential member of the FISBA North America accounting team and an integral part of the FISBA global finance team. This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the core accounting processes of FISBA North America, such as; A/P, A/R, Cost Accounting, and Financial Statement preparation through an understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and fundamental cost accounting principles, as applied to our manufacturing practices.

The Managerial Accountant will work with the VP Finance to prepare financial statements, cash flow statements, net income, and cash flow forecasts, and actual vs. budget variance analyses. Additionally, they will own and reconcile a set of general ledger accounts. The Managerial Accountant will assist the VP Finance to analyze financial statement data and assist in; making performance projections, arranging financing, enforce compliance, measure production performance, and present information to department managers. This position will play an integral role in working with VP Finance to establish the company’s new cost accounting processes.

This position provides opportunities to gain valuable experience in assisting the VP Finance in converting the 2024-2025 FISBA North America financial and cost accounting systems to a new solution set.

NOTE: This position will begin in our Portland, ME location and relocate to Saco, Maine later in the year.

Financial Accounting Responsibilities:

  • Monitor all transactions and reporting for GAAP compliance.
  • Prepare Financial Statements using the company’s software and processes.
  • Play an integral role in the conversion to Parent’s ERP accounting system.
  • Track SG & A account activity against budget.
  • Perform Revenue, Expense, and Inventory accounting and analysis.
  • Perform Fixed Asset and Construction-in-Progress accounting and control.
  • Assist with external financial audit.
  • Create weekly KPI reports for management.
  • Reconcile certain B/S and P/L prepare needed journal entries.
  • Prepare weekly cashflow forecasts with VP – Finance.
  • Perform weekly Accounts Payable procedures and control processes.
  • Control expense reports and travel policies and processes.
  • Make collection calls as needed on Past Due A/R.
  • Maintain Chart of Accounts
  • Reconcile and post banking and credit card activity.

Cost Accounting Responsibilities:

  • With VP Finance, establish costs of, production, administration, labor, shipping, etc.
  • Work with VP Finance to develop and analyze cost standards.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data on the company’s overhead costs.
  • Analyze and report profit center and product contribution margins.
  • Perform inventory and CGS account reconciliations.
  • Create ad hoc cost reports, and GM analysis, on needed projects throughout the month.
  • Advise VP Finance, and department management, of cost-based financial data.
  • Load annual budgets into ERP.
  • Monitor Work-in-Process Inventories and reconcile monthly.
  • Recommend changes to the company’s processes and policies to optimize efficiency and profit.

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 years’ relevant experience including GAAP immersion.
  • 2-5 years manufacturing or industrial services accounting preferred.
  • Competent knowledge of mathematics and statistics
  • Understanding of organizational accounting concepts
  • Strong financial analysis skills
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and give recommendations based on available data
  • Ability and motivation to learn financial reporting software tools and ERP software
  • Ability to perform/learn how to do ROPI calculations
  • In-depth knowledge of financial guidelines and regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Effective communication, including writing, speaking and active listening
  • Collaborative approach to work style

Physical requirements:

  • Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Works in an office setting.
  • Must be able to work in front of a computer, engage in video calls and telephone calls for long periods.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
