Emergency Dispatcher Job Description

FirstMed Ambulance is actively hiring experienced dispatchers who are highly motivated and dedicated candidates with excellent customer service skills. Our Dispatchers are responsible for arranging transportation requests for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), Critical Care Transport (CCT) and 911 Emergency requests throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. FirstMed Ambulance provides 911 back up to EOA providers in Los Angeles County.

Deployment Location for Ambulance Dispatcher at FirstMed Ambulance:

• 8630 Tamarack Ave., Sun Valley, CA 91352

Shifts available for Dispatchers at FirstMed Ambulance: Full-time and Part-time.

• 8-hour shifts
• 10-hour shifts

Responsibilities:

• Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Gather information from callers and dispatch appropriate emergency personnel.
• Use phone systems, radio communication, and computer-aided dispatch systems to communicate with emergency responders.
• Enter data into computer systems and maintain accurate records of all calls.
• Transcribe information accurately and quickly - Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency situations.
• Negotiate with callers to obtain necessary information and calm them down during high-stress situations.

Skills:

• Conflict management skills to handle difficult callers and situations.
• Excellent data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to transcribe information quickly and accurately.
• Certificate in emergency dispatching or related field preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with phone systems, radio communication, and computer-aided dispatch systems
