First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, Florida is Hiring a Preschool Teacher Near Gainesville, FL

Overview: Vibrant downtown preschool seeking strong, loving teachers for our school. Our school is small and home-like, with a family atmosphere. Ideal candidates work well with many personalities and have at least 1 year of childcare experience.

We have two positions available: (1) Classroom Teacher (age group to be determined) and (1) Floater Teacher. Compensation is based on education, years of experience, and credentials. These positions are full-time (40 hours per week).

Job Description for Classroom Teacher: A classroom teacher is responsible for the care and education of children in an assigned age group. The teacher may work independently, or as a co-teacher alongside another classroom teacher. The teacher plans and implements the curriculum, works cooperatively with other teachers and parents, and assesses the needs of individual children.

Job Description for Floater Teacher: A floater teacher is responsible for the care and education of children in multiple age groups. A floater teacher assists classroom teachers with activities, and provides coverage for teachers during their lunch breaks. A floater teacher also serves as a substitute in the absence of a classroom teacher. In addition, floater teachers may assume full responsibility of classrooms during the afternoon for closing hours, or provide childcare as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Cleared Level 2 Child Care Background Screening
  • DCF 45 hrs of childcare training and/or CDA/Staff Credential preferred, but not required.
  • If CDA/Staff Credential not already obtained, willingness to complete the CDA process within 6 months after hire (or after obtaining DCF 45 hrs of training)
  • At least 1 year of preschool/childcare experience preferred
  • CPR/First Aid preferred
