First Presbyterian Day School was first organized in 1970 by the First Presbyterian Church of Durham. We are a non-profit and non-sectarian organization.

We are currently seeking full-time and part-time individuals as Early Childhood Support Staff in Durham, NC. In this floater role, you will work in more than one classroom, at the same center, on a regular basis.

In this key role as Early Childhood Support Staff, you may function as lead teacher, co-teacher, or assistant teacher in the classroom. You will assist with maintaining a classroom environment that utilizes space, materials, routines, and guidance techniques to effectively facilitate physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of children.

Responsibilities include:

• Implementing the curriculum and providing quality care for our children.
• Interacting with children both physically and verbally throughout the day.
• Assisting children with their personal hygiene needs.
• Serve and eat meals with the children.
• Attending professional development training.
• Familiarity with state licensing requirements.

Early Childhood Support Staff requirements:

• High school or equivalent required
• NC Early Childhood Credential or be willing to enroll in the NC Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program through the NC Apprenticeship in Early Childhood Program
• CPR and First Aide Certification or willing to be CPR and First Aide trained.
• One year of experience working with young children preferred.
• Ability to relate well with children.
• Flexible and energetic on the job
• Ability to juggle multiple duties.
• Excellent communication and people skills
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish & English)
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
