DEPARTMENT: Commercial Lending Department REPORTS TO: SVP/Commercial Credit Manager

SUPERVISES: Commercial Underwriting Area FLSA STATUS:Exempt

STATUS: Full time, Regular OFFICER: Yes

LOCATION: Evansville Region *Incumbent may be assigned and re-located to a branch within the Region as staffing and business initiatives dictate.

HOURS: Monday through Friday 8 am – 5 pm *Over-time may be required if business and staffing needs dictate.

First Federal was established on Evansville, Indiana’s Westside in 1904 and is a community bank currently serving communities in the tri-state area with several branch locations in Posey, Vanderburgh, Henderson, Warrick, Daviess and Pike Counties.

POSITION SUMMARY: Effectively oversee the credit analysts of the commercial department, while also underwriting applications that require higher limits and are more complex in nature. Provide adequate workflow to individuals that report to you. Express high levels of accuracy that allow minimal errors while reviewing and underwriting loans. Determine proper risk ratings for loan applications and be able to effectively communicate findings to the commercial lenders and senior loan committee. Routinely examine financials of commercial borrowers and apply analytical skills to safeguard commercial portfolio.Individual in position responsible for being knowledgeable about all BSA related functions.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Commercial Lending experience required
  • 5-7 Years credit analysis experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES:

  • Supervise credit analysts in commercial lending department
  • Manage loan volume that is distributed to each credit analyst
  • Spread and analyze financial statements
  • Input and organize information into the loan application software
  • Analyze collateral for accuracy and properly value
  • Review loan applications for an accurate loan purpose and structure
  • Prepare credit write-ups for the loan presentation
  • Properly risk rate loans before approval
  • Review work of credit analysts that report to you if loan application is above their limit
  • Submit loan applications for approval to senior loan committee
  • Present loan requests to Board of Directors as needed
  • Monitor follow-up on financial statements
  • Order credit reports

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to analyze financial statements and calculate ratios
  • Ability to analyze personal and business tax returns
  • Interpersonal skills in dealing with internal/external customers

  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel programs
