First Federal Bank of Louisiana is Hiring a Loan Clerk-Consumer/Commercial Near Charles, LA

First Federal Bank of Louisiana is currently seeking a Loan Clerk – Consumer/Commercial in the Loan Processing and Closing Department. The position is located at the Main Office in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

SUMMARY

Books, scans, and indexes all originated new and renewal non-real estate consumer and commercial loans. Performs a variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assembles and verifies accuracy of consumer loan documentation
  • Orders missing documents for completion of consumer loan file
  • Maintains new consumer loan files; logs consumer paperwork when received
  • Reviews, monitors, and maintains various reports – daily, weekly, monthly and annually
  • Processes consumer non-real estate and commercial loan files
  • Records UCCs
  • Reconciles and maintains GL account for consumer loans and transfer funds as needed
  • Contacts insurance for all movables processed such as autos, boats, RVs, etc.
  • Completes, processes, records and verifies DMV and Department of Wildlife and Fisheries filings, including electronic lien filing
  • Prepares non-real estate consumer denial, incomplete and withdrawn correspondence
  • Retrieves for processing all ELT’s from the state; verifies ELT’s and titles handled by dealer
  • Processes payments for third party vendors, such as title companies and dealers
  • Mails loan payoff documentation to receive title; follows up on titles not received timely
  • Disburses all consumer non-real estate loans including payoffs and disbursement to sellers, dealers and clients as indicated on boarding data
  • Clears back office exceptions
  • Compliance training is assigned to all Bank personnel based on their position with the Bank.

Employees are required to complete all assigned training timely and in accordance with Bank policy.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and a minimum of three (3) months related banking experience and/or training. Preferred experience in the lending field, specifically knowledge of titles, powers of attorney, and donations.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

None required for this position.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers, employees, and the general public
  • Fluency must be in English; knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to review work for accuracy with attention to detail
  • Must have knowledge of computer and standard office software applications such as Microsoft excel, Microsoft word, and Outlook 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

ENVIRONMENT AND SCHEDULING

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Regular attendance is required.
