First Christian Church is Hiring a Community Engagement Coordinator Near Canton, OH

Job Vision

The goal of the Community Engagement Director is to recruit, train, lead, and develop volunteer teams and leaders to fulfill FCC's mission through opportunities in our community. This person will be instrumental in connecting our church with opportunities in our community to meet needs and have a Kingdom Impact here in Canton.

Principal Duties

· Serve as the point person and connection with ministry partners and organizations in the area.

· Organize and lead teams of people who are spiritually gifted and equipped to engage ALL people.

· Lead the Community engagement team to create and facilitate the local mission endeavors of FCC.

You’ll work with the pastors on-staff, and other key team leaders in this effort.

· Help connect & guide people as they express interest in serving and help coach them forward.

· Develop cultural awareness and education of mission into the broader community surrounding FCC.

· Execute the vision and strategy for local impact projects with partnership of FCC partners/volunteers.

· Work with Executive Pastor to facilitate strategy and implementation of multisite Community plan(s).

· Develop, manage and train onboarding procedures for Community partners and volunteers

· Oversee Community partner projects and volunteer schedule(s) with Administrative support

Specific Responsibilities

· Attend Team and Staff Meetings Weekly (or as scheduled) including Staff Devotions (as scheduled).

· Communicate with and encourage church partners and ministry teams.

· Strengthen church connection in neighborhood, church and county through Community Partnerships

· Oversee Community Teams (Common Goods, Food Ministry, etc), initiatives, volunteers and processes

· Assist in communication and administration of volunteer scheduling to fill campus & ministry needs

· Create, maintain, and distribute a “Community Engagement report” outlining projects & progress

· Create and maintain a Ministry Staff communication (Chat form) listing community opportunities, including specifics of each.

· Oversee and help direct community partnerships and referrals for those in need

· Communicate regularly with local mission partners, identifying opportunities for FCC to partner with and support them.

· Assist in the development of an annual departmental budget and manage spending to budge

Requirements and Qualifications

This position also requires a level of education suitable for fulfilling the responsibilities as outlined above.

  • Experience and understanding of general office equipment, telephone use and etiquette, computer and software applications (Database management, Microsoft Office, Excel. PlanningCenterOnline, etc.)
  • Able to treat every call or person with courtesy, cheerfulness and respect.
  • Able to use time wisely, but be willing to allow for appropriate interruptions, especially if it involves ministry to individuals.
  • Willingness to see work as an opportunity to grow in their ability to serve the Lord and His church.
  • A supportive and contributing team member, able to inspire and equip the ministry team to work together in a way that exudes excellence and intentionality.
  • This position requires a person who can maintain confidentiality in all matters.

  • Extensive community/non-profit experience with a solid work ethic and ability to administrate as a department head.

Expectations, Staff Relationship & Responsibilities

Accountable to the Campus Pastor who will supervise, encourage & evaluate annually

· Personal appearance: modest, neat, appropriate clothing for occasions (Sundays, special events or funerals)

· Strong work ethic. 25 hours per week with varied evening hours as needed.

(NOTE: Additional hours may be requested for All Hands events, evening or weekend responsibilities)

· Agree to and follow requirements in Team Guide, Staff Covenant and Employee Handbook for staff members.

· Must become an active member of First Christian Church (if not already) within 90 days of employment.

· Personally be involved with the discipling and evangelism of our community and church

· Have a passion for making and multiplying disciples and participating in Kingdom work!

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19,500.00 - $21,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 25 per week
