First Bank Trust is Hiring a Director of Agri-Business Banking (#139567) Near Brookings, SD

Overall FunctionsThis person will be responsible for leading the agricultural banking activities including the direct management of the Brookings Market Agricultural Banking staff and coordinating all agricultural banking activities throughout the Bank. This person must excel at leadership, business development, strategic planning, teambuilding, and training. This person will promote business development efforts and identify opportunities with other business lines.
QualificationsThis person should have a bachelor's degree, plus ten years of related experience or the equivalent. This person must have demonstrated skills in agricultural loan underwriting and managing large, complex agricultural credits, as well as an aptitude for supervising and developing others. Excellent communication skills, organizational, and planning plus the willingness to work with others is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop an atmosphere of teamwork, open communication, and unity. Provide oversight of all services offered. Actively mentor staff and ensure they are trained and motivated to perform their responsibilities in an effective manner.
  • Identify the competencies needed by staff to be successful in agri-business now and into the future. Diligently develop staff in support of department’s growth, as well as succession planning.
  • Conduct regular agricultural banking meetings for all Agricultural Banking staff across the organization to discuss relevant changes that affect ongoing and future operations of the department. Discuss matters pertinent to the operations of the agricultural banking function with Market President, Community Bank Presidents, and if necessary, Bank management.
  • Create a culture that promotes business development and increasing the number of agricultural banking relationships and number of Bank products used by existing customers.
  • Facilitate the development, delivery, and integration of a high-quality agricultural banking experience that will focus on value driven approaches to customer relationships and support referrals to other departments within the Bank.
  • In partnership with the Market Presidents identify and set the strategic direction on agricultural banking for the Bank. This vision should tie into action plans.
  • Assist staff, when needed, with the terms under which credit will be extended including the costs, repayment method, schedule, and collateral requirements to include securing required signatures and all documentation according to the Loan Policy & Guidelines.
  • Represent the organization and provide leadership in community activities, including business, charitable, civic, and social organizations to maintain a responsible citizen stature for the bank.
  • Monitor loan portfolio risk and work with officers to assign the corresponding risk rating on loans, including the review of all monthly department Problem Loan Reports.
  • Keep informed of all laws and regulations that impact the bank's agricultural banking activities by attending informational seminars and meetings and studying resource materials. Ensure all agricultural banking relationships follow the Bank's Loan Policy & Guidelines and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support the Special Assets & Loss Mitigation Manager with collection of loans, workouts, OREO property, etc.
  • Act in accordance with FBT Policies & Procedures as set forth in the employee handbook.
  • Adhere to compliance procedures and participate in required compliance training.
