Firelands Scientific/The Landing Dispensary is Hiring a Social Media Manager Near Westlake, OH

Experienced social media manager ready to be all in on the Ohio cannabis industry? Firelands Scientific is one of Ohio’s largest cannabis cultivation operators that produces safe, effective medical cannabis products while managing five dispensary locations across Ohio and five across West Virginia.

The Firelands team is looking for a social media manager with experience developing plans that increase engagement and brand awareness across multiple platforms. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of modern lifestyle marketing, retail promotion strategy, brand management, community management/engagement, influencer management, content creation and a working understanding of the Ohio cannabis industry.

The cannabis industry is tough, everchanging and demands a passion for the plant while rewarding those willing to learn and adapt. The ideal candidate is hungry for a cannabis industry position that can adapt to the rapid changes of the industry and heavily enjoys living in the social media ecosystem.

Reporting to the marketing director, the social media manager position will be primarily office-based in our Westlake office with occasional travel depending on the needs of content creation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Social media management of multi-state wholesale and retail brand accounts across social media platforms and email. Evaluation and recommendations of new and emerging platforms used by target audiences
  • Carefully monitor house brands and competitive social media conversations and brand web presence, providing the broader team updates on trends, new approaches, and positioning.
  • Develop and schedule social content calendars in tandem with the marketing director
  • Develop simple to intermediate content graphics for all social media accounts
  • Analyzing engagement results, identifying trends in interactions and planning content campaigns to continue to build on engagement.
  • Responding to and engaging with inquires, comments and messages on across social media accounts
  • Develop social media plans, content campaigns aligned with strategic goals, while bringing new ideas to the table
  • Monitor social media analytics, generate reports and recommendations to increase effectiveness of content
  • Works collaboratively with the marketing team to develop and manage cross channel marketing campaigns
  • Collaborate with Sales & Retail teams on content goals.
  • Creates social and email campaigns aligned with current promotional, product and messaging content.
  • Engage and manage influencer partnerships
  • Help manage co-marketing opportunities
  • Effectively work with street team for content creation
  • Authority on social media ecosystems, best practices, trends and updates
  • Other duties as assigned

Relevant Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably Marketing or similar specialization
  • 3 years of cannabis social media marketing experience
  • Familiarity with analytics reporting and using social media scheduling software
  • Understand of social media strategy and ability to think of campaigns versus single graphics or posts
  • Adobe Creative Suite at a beginner to intermediate level. Canva experience may be acceptable for the right fit, but the desire is to use Creative Suite long term
  • Basic familiarity with AP style
  • Strong familiarity with short form video
  • Some level of photography/video experience is preferred
  • Some familiarity with the nuances of cannabis social media restrictions
  • Deep understanding on the pulse of current social media trends, platforms and content types
  • Energetic team player, willing to take direction and learn new skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

Physical Requirements:

  • Long periods of prolonged sitting and standing.
  • Long periods of prolonged use of office equipment including computers and phones.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer.
  • May require lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment:

  • Similar to a busy office setting, manufacturing facility or warehouse
  • Constant interaction with internal and external stakeholders
