Responsibilities

Job Summary

Assure compliance to regulations and standards for porous components used in consumer end markets including air freshener and insecticide.

Responsibilities will include evaluating customer complaints, supplier defects and in-process rejects to determine root cause, corrective and preventative actions. In addition, the quality engineer will work with product innovation and process engineering to successfully release new or optimized components to manufacturing.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage customer complaint requirements including root cause analysis, corrective action implementation and required customer communications.
  • Create and review regulated documents associated with the design and manufacture of products such as SOPs, specifications, testing protocols and reports, quality control and reliability plans etc.
  • Provide guidance, review and support on improvements to production and process controls, including handling of nonconformities.
  • Review in-process and final product specifications and data trends to evaluate and set or improve quality requirements.
  • Participate in devising and implementing methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating raw materials, components and finished products.
  • Provide advanced techniques to ensure that quality is designed into products and processes, including Design/Process FMEA/HA, DOE, statistical process control, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Perform analysis of production and process data to identify trends and recommend improvements to processes and procedures to reduce and control manufacturing process defects.
  • Provide guidance on the development of verification and validation plans, test and sampling methods, sample size determination and acceptance criteria.
  • Provide quality perspective in support of design control and change control activities.
  • Leads or participates in cross-functional teams to support new product development, quality improvement, and cost savings projects.
  • Provide support on the assessment, management and disposition of nonconforming material.
  • Provide support on CAPA investigations and effectiveness assessments.
  • Regularly interacts with other departments and suppliers regarding quality matters.
  • Support regulatory compliance requirements as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on engineering or scientific discipline with chemical or process engineering preferred.

Experience:

  •  1-5 years quality assurance and quality systems experience supporting manufacturing.

Other skills and abilities required include:

Expertise with the following manufacturing technologies and QC methods is desired: powder sintering; chemical separation; absorption or filtration; plastic grinding; blending and filling; clean room requirements; physical and microbial testing.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills (encompasses verbal, written, interpersonal, listening
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to use investigation tools such as FMEA/HA, DOE, Six Sigma
  • Flexible; ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to set priorities and effectively manage time to manage multiple activities and responsibilities.
  • Quality certification desired (Six Sigma, CQE, CQA, CRE).
