Job Title: Structured Cabling Technician | Electrical Apprentice

Reports To: Lead Structured Cabling Technician and Project Manager

Pay: $19-$24/hr, Depending on Relevant Experience

FieldLink is a network infrastructure staffing company helping people find rewarding careers in the Telecom and Low Voltage Industry. We specialize in customized staffing partnerships with industry leading integrators responsible for large commercial projects and government contracts nation-wide.

We are hiring for Structured Cabling Technician II to work in Des Moines, IA. This role is a contract to hire, joining a growing team offering continued industry training and a career path.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Installation of cable infrastructure (CAT5/E and CAT6).
  • Dress and route cable into IT closets, modular furniture, and other work area outlets.
  • Cable pathway installation (J-hooks, D-rings, cable trays, and ladder racks).
  • Cable management (dressing, labeling).
  • Cable Termination (Patch Panel, Jacks, Keystones, RJ-45/Modular Plzug).
  • Wireless Access Point (WAP) Installation
  • IT Closet Builds (MDF, IDF, Data rack, ladder rack, cable tray, sleeve installation)
  • Read and follow blueprints set for installation.
  • Follow written and oral communication displaying professionalism with colleagues and management.
  • Follow safety guidelines and protocols (Proper PPE, clean up jobsite, OSHA)

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency.
  • 2 years of commercial structured cabling, low voltage, or data cable installation experience.
  • Active OSHA 10 – preferred
  • Scissor Lift Certification – preferred
  • Physical Requirement: Must be able to work on a ladder and/or scissor lift. Work in confined spaces, can lift up to 50 pounds, and move up to 75 pounds. Ability to work on your feet for entire shift.
  • Tools: Basic Hand Tools: screwdriver (multi-Bit), torpedo level, tape measure, snips, pliers (needle nose and channel locks), cable stripper, punch down tool, modular plug crimper, flashlight, work boots (steel toe or composite toe), gloves, and tool pouch.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $19.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 60 per week
