Fehrer is Hiring a Tooling Technician Near Duncan, SC

SUMMARY:
Responsible for repair and modification of molds.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair defects and test tools to assure that they are in safe working condition as well as coordinate and communicate the status of repairs performed by vendors.
  • Recommend changes required to part design, tool design or equipment capability to achieve acceptable quality and cost requirements.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping practices and mold storage requirements.
  • Perform modifications and repairs on molds
  • Provide support to Maintenance on projects requiring Machine shop knowledge and or welding
  • Additional duties as needed and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Formal Mechanical Maintenance or Machinist experience/schooling
  • Machine shop experience
  • Welding experience ( Mig, Tig, Acetylene )
  • Knowledge and operation of mill machine
  • Knowledge and operation of Lathe
  • Knowledge and operation of chop saws and band saws


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Employee must have working knowledge of manufacturing maintenance. The individual will be responsible for leading maintenance systems, overseeing the continuous improvement of the manufacturing process and executing long term strategic plans. Must be self-motivated and possess well developed leadership skills.

Minimum Requirement:

  • High school diploma
  • 1 to 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment and 1 to 3 years experience in tooling.

Preferred:

  • 2 year A.S. degree in Industrial Maintenance or formal Machinist training


LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets basic instructions and required documents. Has the ability to respond and communicate complicated instruction and basic directions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic mathematics.


REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee is required to stand, walk, lift, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, push, grasp, and reach.
  • Knowledge of basic hand power tools.
  • Able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Able to operate gantry crane
  • Able to spot tools in while they are at operating temperatures


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Normal amount of sitting and standing, above average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.

  • Work with employees, supervisors and executive management.
  • Work with outside vendors as required.
