Fehrer Automotive North America LLC is Hiring an AL Controller Near Gadsden, AL

Position Title: Controller Location(s): Gadsden, AL

Departments: Accounting Reports To: CFO

FLSA Status: Exempt Labor Grade:

Effective Date: 07/01/2020

  • SUMMARY:
    The Controller will be responsible for preparation and distribution of various internal financial statements to management, maintenance of the organization’s general ledger, and ensuring that all transactions and documentation complies with US GAAP and IAS.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the preparation and distribution of internal financial statements, reports, maintaining the highest quality, reliability and accuracy.
  • Manage monthly closing process, including reconciliations and analysis of related accounts.
  • Manage other compliance areas including tax processing and other financial statements.
  • Develop and maintain the integrity of the financial reporting process and financial controls.
  • Coordinate, develop and update written policies and procedures over the financial reporting process.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Research and resolve accounting issues including evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements to ensure US GAAP and IAS compliance.
  • Responsible for fringe benefit calculations.
  • Provide Executive Management updates on key issues and improve communications across functions
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of best practices in internal controls
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • International accounting and issue recognition experience;
  • Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently.
  • Experience working effectively as part of a small team.

  • EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Requirement:

  • Manufacturing accounting experience
  • BS Accounting/Business or MBA with accounting concentration
  • Strong manufacturing systems experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
  • SAP experience desired
  • German language helpful

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets basic instructions and required documents. Has the ability to respond and communicate complicated instruction and basic directions.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of basic mathematics.


  • REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Normal amount of sitting and standing, above average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.

  • Works with all levels of employees as well as executive management.
  • Also works with Fehrer Germany Accounting and Finance teams.
  • Works with outside financial auditors.
