FedWriters is Hiring a Financial Analyst Near Fairfax, VA

Job Title: Financial Analyst

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to provide financial analysis support to FedWriters' corporate office. This role has an emphasis on bookkeeping, contract invoicing, and payroll services.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting general bookkeeping
  • Preparing and submitting monthly invoices (T&M, FFP, CPFF) in compliance with contract requirements using Deltek Cost Point
  • Establishing and maintaining projects in Deltek Cost Point according to contract award and modification documents
  • Processing cash receipts, wire transfers, and ACHs
  • Assisting with A/R, billing/invoicing to customers, including processing of cash receipts and recording of revenue and receivables
  • Supporting the monthly close process by preparing month end journals and reviewing balance sheet control accounts
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals
  • Preparing monthly financial statements
  • Processing and recording accounts payable transactions and ensuring that all invoices are paid accurately and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Reviewing expense coding to ensure compliance and tagging all eligible costs, including A/P and staff reimbursements
  • Ensuring Labor Distribution report adequately documents all labor related dollars and hours
  • Providing DCAA financial and compliance audit readiness support
  • Reporting on periodic variances of expense and revenue and their causes
  • Preparing payroll and timesheet processing and total time accounting compliance
  • Keeping abreast of payroll related federal and state regulations
  • Preparing and processing annual 1099 forms
  • Obtaining and maintaining vendor W-9 forms
  • Reviewing and processing employee expense reports while adhering to government regulations and applicable accounting procedures and practices
  • Assist in preparation of year-end tax reports
  • Providing proposal pricing and administrative support as needed

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • The ability to read, manipulate, and analyze data in an Excel spreadsheet
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
  • Must be able to analyze and troubleshoot accounting issues
  • Demonstrated experience with automated payroll systems such as Unanet, Deltek, Costpoint
  • Familiarity with GAAP, FAR regulations, DCAA regulations

Desired:

  • Knowledge of Project Accounting, Cost Reporting, and Revenue Recognition
  • At least two years of experience in federal contracting performing invoicing, general accounting, finance, account reconciliations, and analysis

Work Setting and Environment:

  • Work is to be performed remotely
  • On-site federal contractors, in federal buildings or on federal lands must comply with CDC guidelines with respect to wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, and other public health measures
