The ideal candidate will have experience through educational training or prior employment in the Environmental Sciences. All disciplines are encouraged to apply including but not limited to wildlife biology, water permitting, floodplains, wetlands, and/ or coastal resources. The position is based in Chicago, IL. The position requires both the ability to work out of the Chicago office on occasion and significant travel that could be weeks to months for a large portion of the year.
In this Environmental Protection Specialist position, you will serve as an Environmental Specialist supporting FEMAs disaster grant programs.
Typical assignments include:
To qualify for this Environmental Protection Specialist position at the IC-9 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-7 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D.
To qualify for this Environmental Protection Specialist position at the IC-11 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-9 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M.
