Position Summary

Federal Data Systems is looking for a Mid-level Test Engineer to support a National Security Program. The individual will develop and test software IAW approved AWS standards using specified GOTS testing software.

Essential Job Functions

• Identify, document and track software defects through resolution, using industry standard lifecycle tools such as Atlassian Suite (Jira), Rational Suite, Bugzilla or similar tools.

• Test software following Agile lifecycle processes and practices, using Agile tools such as Atlassian Suite and GitHub.

• Conduct testing using CI/CD processes and tools.
• Develop software or scripts in Python, Bash or similar languages, and developing test automation frameworks.

• Estimate resources, level of effort, and timelines for testing tasks using Agile story point construct or similar methods, providing input on dependencies and risks for testing.
• Experience with one or more of the following tools: Selenium, PyTest, Puppeteer, Sphinx.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Due to the nature of this position and the information that employees will be required to access; U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Candidate must have demonstrated experience in preparing, conducting, and documenting various systems tests and results to verify system operability and compliance with project standards and requirements; developing or testing software written in C/C , Java, Perl, Python and other scripting languages on Windows and Linux/UNIX platforms, and participating in peer review of development and test deliverables.
• High School diploma with eight (8) years demonstrated experience or;
• Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems or related discipline with four (4) years of experience or;
• Master of Science degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems or related discipline with two (2) years’ experience.
• Required Security Clearance: TS/SCI with CI Poly.

Desired Skills:

• Experience developing or testing software being developed/deployed on AWS cloud.
• AWS certification at Associate level or higher.
• Experience developing automated software documentation using Markdown and reStructuredText.
• Demonstrated knowledge of or experience working with OSI Model, TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, and other basic network concepts.

Working Conditions: 

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are normally set from Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, however some extended or weekend hours may be required. Additional details on the precise hours will be informed to the candidate from the Program Manager/Hiring Manager. 

Physical Requirements: 

May be required to lift and carry items weighting up to 25 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.

Successful Completion of a Background Screening/Check/Investigation will be required as a condition of hire.
