JOB SUMMARY :

The Central Supply Clerk orders, stocks, inventories all purchases of nursing supplies in the facility. Follows all Villa policies and procedures.

Have a keen understating of nursing supplies and residents needs pertaining to supply and equipment. Understand budgets and PPD’s and how to maintain them.

To always keep the facility in compliance with governmental agencies.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :

Utilizes all facility tools pertaining to the position

Have an understanding and knowledge of costs / budgets

Ensure that the floors / units are stocked according to their needs

Will have a process of monitoring all items that have an expiration date and follow the facility / manufacturer guidelines

Maintain FIFO rule

Provides all new admissions with supplies as facility policy

Ensures compliance with facility inventory system,.

Places orders for supplies according to Villa policy

Labels all supplies according to Facility protocols

Utilizes all facility logs / tools pertaining to this position

Keeps nursing units properly stocked with supplies per PAR levels

Keeps equipment log as requested

Manages the replacement of concentrators via vendor

Maintains budget for nursing department

Participates in training programs and assists in orientation of new staff.

Confers with and reports to Administrator on a regular basis or as particular situations require.

Coordinates volunteer services through orientation, training, and direction of volunteers.

Prepares and plans department budget for equipment and supplies and submits to Administrator for review, recommendation, and approval.

Seeks methods to control costs.

Handles department equipment according to standard procedures.

Complies with laws and regulations applicable to position and acts in accordance with Villa Health Services, Inc.’s Corporate Compliance Program.

Treats all residents, visitors, and staff with courtesy.

Attends and participates in in-service classes, performance improvement ( PI ) committees, and other meetings as assigned.

Knows and follows facility rules.

Demonstrates proper use of equipment. Reports equipment needs or repairs.

Follows facility smoking policies.

Reports and documents any incidents or accidents of residents, staff or visitors to the appropriate facility personnel.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES :

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other facility staff.

Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly.

Meets all health requirements, as required by law.

Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE :

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Prior experience as a supply clerk in a long-term care facility a plus.

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.

Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.

Meet all health requirements as needed.
