About The Position
This is a full time (40 hours per week) in-office position. As a Graphic Design Pre-Press Specialist, your primary responsibilities will be to prepare layouts and digital proofs for client projects, and to create production files for output on a variety of specialized equipment. You will work closely with our sales team to provide effective visual solutions based on customer needs, and will collaborate with our fabrication team to plan output. The ideal candidate is methodical, efficient and has an eye for good design. They thrive in a collaborative atmosphere, are energized by a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, and have a strong interest in learning more about the custom signage industry.
Responsibilities
  • Work fluently and precisely in Adobe Illustrator to create all digital files necessary for conceptualizing, proofing and fabricating a project, which may include scale mockups, permit drawings, construction submittals, color tests, specialized print and cut files or logo/graphic recreation.
  • Assist sales team during the quoting process by evaluating customer files and creating mockups.
  • Work from a wide range of starting points, including previous projects, written descriptions, mockups, sketches, and reference photos to generate polished, effective layouts that answer the customer's visual communication goals.
  • Create or adjust layouts to follow precise guidelines such as customer brand standards, existing sign programs, ADA regulations and building code requirements.
  • Prepare accurate production files for optimized output based on machine requirements and limitations.
  • Work fluently with various file formats provided by the customer, font files and stock photos.
  • Follow naming, organizational and archiving standards to ensure that digital assets for all in-house and client projects are stored correctly in Google Drive.
  • Balance creativity with efficiency.
Other Responsibilities
  • Assist with light production work such as preparing vinyl graphics, grommeting banners, applying tape, punching holes.
  • Occasionally assist walk-in customers (order pickups, general inquiries).
Ideal Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of graphic design and/or pre-press experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Advanced in Adobe Illustrator (Required)
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat (Required)
  • Proficient with Google Workspace (Google Drive, Sheets, Docs)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Comfortable with Mac platform (Required)
  • Prior experience with preparing files for professional print/physical output, including understanding of Pantone color system and color correction/matching
  • Ability to independently track and prioritize simultaneous projects
  • Sit and view a computer screen for long periods (6 hours or more)
  • Ability to work under pressure to output high volume, high-quality work
  • Very strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to effectively and efficiently organize, prioritize, and manage client files
  • Able to lift 25 or more pounds
  • Must have the flexibility to lean over a waist-high table and use back-forth hand motions to produce graphics

Compensation: $52,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
